The answerer who said nothing is for free is soooo wrong, but two previous answerers got it right - Project Gutenberg is the place for free public-domain literature. I have to add to that answer, though. If you would like to listen to the books in addition to reading them, or maybe instead of reading them with your eyes, then Librivox is your answer. It is also entirely free, with all books read by volunteers. I've included a link for you. Enjoy a world of information and entertainment at the click of a key.

Type 'Project Gutenberg' into a search engine. I can't remember the exact web address but they have a HUGE collection of classics online and they are all free.

There is no such thing as a free ebook. At least, not that yu can download. The books on this site aren't so bad though.
