BE FREE OF OPINIONS

If you depend upon the opinions of others to determine how good you are, then you become like a leaf in the wind, fluttering in whichever direction the fads of the time blow you.

**in a nuteshell, can you please explain the above statement in your own understandering.

thanks

Last semester I took my first Philosophy class. We studied Plato's dialogues on Socrates for a big portion of the class. I plan on taking some more philosophy classes next semester so I am reviewing what I studied last semester to prepair. I'm new to philosophy and am still trying to figure things out.

In the Euthyphro i'm trying to figure out the elenctic method. Do you think it is a useful method or problematic?
Personally I think it's a good tool to use, but I can't figure out WHY I think this. It can cause some problems. How does socrates use the 'elenchus' to refute the definitions of piety that Euthyphro gives?

Do you have any other good points about the Euthyphro? Any other discussions?

I need some good girls names that sound nice with Joseph.
I am writing a book and I need a nice name for Josephs love interest. Hopefully an unusual girls name.
Please help me choose a name that sounds good with Joseph, so its nice in a sentence like "Joseph and whoever went down to the stream to fetch some water" etc.

Thanks. (I know its kinda under a weird catagory but my computer wouldn't let me choose others..)

I just finished reading Forever in Blue..by Ann Brashares. I'm now working on my book report project for it. My teacher is very specific in what she wants in the report. For the next paragraph I'm supposed to describe the authors style. I really dont understand this...but I dont want to wait till monday to ask. How do you explain an authors style...are there specific types of styles? Is this like whether she's simple, hard, descriptive, etc.

Nothing that could ever be turned into a chick flick! I don't like horror, and I don't particularly like mystery.
