Nothing that could ever be turned into a chick flick! I don't like horror, and I don't particularly like mystery.

I love fantasy and the last books I couldn't put down were Wicked and Rule of the Bone.

If you mean Wicked by Maguire, then you have to read the sequel, Son of a Witch! It's not as good as Wicked, but it's still a good book. You should read Maguire's other books too, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, Mirror Mirror, and Lost. They're all great!
Enjoy!

Try Under the Skin--it's about aliens who come to collect and harvest humans for food for their planet. It's told from the perspective of the female alien whose job it is to capture the humans, and whose personal policy it is to only snag jerkweed males who are hitchhiking. (Really, it's a lot better than I'm making it sound, and it could never be a chick flick, unless maybe Spike Jones and Charlie Kaufman decided to do a chick flick together.)

Or you could try Zenna Henderson's books, starting with The People: No Different Flesh, which is fantastic (if you happen to have seen that horrible William Shatner TV-movie adaptation in the 1970s, ignore that--the books are wonderful).

Perhaps you should have a break from adventure and try something else just to broaden your interest in the field of reading.

You said you don't like mystery, however I know a very good book entitled "Curioys Incident of the dog at night time" by mark haddon. It is a post modern story about a 15 year old genius who little by little unfolds the mystery of his surroundings as he tries to solve who kille the dog of his neighbor. This story has a very unique plot, one that would keep you going. As you read you would learn to appreciate the way Christopher(main character) thinks and analyzes his surroundings. His imaginations generate a whole new perspective we may not have thought possible. Nonetheless, it is a treasure that worth digging for.

Fantasy books eh? That there's my specialty!

R.A. Salvatore. He's the man IMO. He's written Icewind Dale Trilogy, Dark Elf Trilogy, Hunters Blade Trilogy, Sellswords Series (all forgotten realms books) He's got a Star Wars book or two as well, and a few for Del Ray Books.

Margret Weis/Tracy Hickman are a very good combo. They Wrote A LOT of the Dragonlace set of books (in fact they were two of the first creators of it). They also have a few outside of Dragonlance as well....can't recall the name of those though (i've stored away a lot of the books i've finished already)

Richard A Knaak. he's a little newer to fantasy, but i love his Minotaur Wars Trilogy in Dragonlance and the new campeign setting of Eberron.

Those are some good places to start.

You could also try the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan! Long but still very good! Start from the beginning though! I think the series has 11 books now. . .Or even the Gunslinger series by Stephen King! Don't worry it's not a scary series

I recommend The Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
It's a magical adventure story about a boy who is cast adrift in a lifeboat with a zebra, a hyena, an orangutan, and a huge Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.

Try Jane Lindskold, Dennis McKiernan, Raymond Feist, Andre Norton, Ursula K. LeGuin, Mercedes Lackey, Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. I started reading sci-fi, then graduated to fantasy, then to mystery, then to thrillers and back and forth between them all now. Have fun, Enjoy!
