I'm not sure if you've ever heard of intention manifestation and "The Law of Attraction", nor if you believe any of it but...
They say you attract into your life whatever you think about. Your dominant thoughts will find a way to manifest. So the more you think of something, the more concrete it becomes.
If you pay attention, you'll notice pessimists tend to attract some pretty ugly scenarios... basically because it's what they believe it will become.
Fears are very strong emotions that sometimes tend to completely block our minds of other thoughts... and there is where intention-manifestation ends up backfiring.
This is a delicate subject and people tend to go "pssht" over hearing it... but with time and a little bit of perception you start to see it makes sense.
If you're interested you can read more about it at http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/category/intention-manifestation/ this guy has some very interesting articles, and they also have an experiment running, in which people try to attract 1 million dollars to come into their lives with the help of intention manifestation. :P

well, I thought it was the other way round. We are attracted to what we fear. Personally, I dread heights and ghosts and things which are red in tooth and claw. But I do not attract them. However, I am attracted to them. Whenever I venture up a skyscraper, there is this absurd weird feeling...as if something is pulling or pushing me to jump out of the window. I fear haunted houses and cemeteries yet sometimes I have this strange feeling as if by ghostly visitation urging me to stop by when passing by. Blood scares the hell out of me yet I am likely to be one of the first people at the scene of horrible and ghastly accident where peoples heads have been separated from their bodies!!
Weird attraction!!

In answer to your question yes for fear to destroy love for then your soul has no chance to expand for personal growth : ) Fear comes from the Ego and Love from the Soul People only fear what they don't understand Ego verses Soul It is all about the EGO and change To not fear something would make a change and a personal growth for the Soul "Right" The EGO does not like change or personal growth as the Ego likes to win and and stay within it's comfort zone The Ego can be your friend or your worst enemy Your Soul will never lead you astray For Ego to make friends with your Soul is to find balance Love & Blessings Milly

Maybe your a bold individual; you can't stand the idea that there is something you fear so you confront head on, and welcome it into your life so you won't fear it anymore.
Think of children being warned not to touch hot stove. They do it anyway, because they want to know what the big deal is.
Also, psychiatrists say that children pretending to do dangerous activities in their play, are actually doing so to address and master their own fears of the subject matter.

You attract what you fear because that is what you are focusing all of your energy on. To avoid this, focus your energy (thoughts and feelings) on positive things that make you happy. Do not dwell on the negatives in your life.

We attract everything we focus on. There is a saying "where attention goes, energy flows". It is also known as "the law of attraction". A good understanding and application of this principle is the key to freedom and happiness.

Maybe fear weakens some. You need to get angry with fear to fight it.
perhaps getting a gargoyle and opening a window will help

I think we "mirror" other people and they mirror us. For example, when someone yells at you you may yell back.
I think we get what we give.
I fear many things but have not experienced it yet so I cant say that your statement would be true for me.
