I'm writing a paper for my US History class that tries to go beyond the vague generalizations people tend to make when speaking about slavery. I couldn't really find anything that talked about Northern economy in regards to slavery. Does anyone have links to any articles that mention how the North felt it was more beneficial to emancipate slaves for monetary profit?

I want to know specifics about the table that delayed the Vietnam War-Paris Peace talks for about six months. The conflict was about the shape of the table.
If an article could be found that describesit would be great. I have searched online archives that are available, but no luck.

Richard Connell passed away in 1949, and I'm not sure if his works are in the public domain at this point. I would like to know if anyone knows who owns the rights to the story, mostly who owns the film rights.

With increasing advances in computers there may come a time when they are so advanced we cannot differentiate between one of them and a real person in conversation.

In the film Short Circuit the 'final' test for the robot to be alive is said to be humor.

Or there is the Turing test in real life for those who know what that is.

But what would your personal criteria be for deciding that an artifical intelligence was actually alive.

So many people ask what good books are, so I'm looking for a list of books to avoid.

Please list books that you've read at least half of, so I know if it is genuinely bad and that you didn't give up on a great book.

Do you remember that show "The Wonder Years", on in the 80s and 90s? You remember the introduction with the Joe Cocker cover of "With a Little Help From My Friends"??

I am curious what type of camera and film I would need in order to shoot stills of the same quality as that home movie footage in the beginning of that show.

Also, I would be curious to know what type of home movie camera that might have been as well (but mainly interested in taking still photos with that late 60s / early 70s vibe).

Do you know where I can buy these supplies on the net or learn more about this?

Thanks!!

i have a piece of original artwork from the Magic:The Gathering game and wonder about copyright issues surrounding it. this is a piece from the original 1993 core set. wikipedia states that since 1995 "all artwork commissioned becomes property of Wizards of the Coast once a contract is signed." my piece predates this by two years and i wonder if i could use the design in commercial ventures. i bought the piece in 1994 so if the '95 year is accurate where does that put me? just wondering what my options are as opposed to leaving it hanging on my wall...

Hypothetically speaking, you got a monkey that is supposed to randomly type for the rest of eternity. He's got an endless supply of paper, endless supply of ink, etc....everything he needs to type for eternity. When it's time to start typing, the monkey takes the typewriter and smashes it to pieces. Furthermore, his intention is to never type anything. Will this monkey ever type the book, War and Peace ? Oh yeah, the type writer won't be replaced either.
