For those that believe in a human God I suppose a loving God would make decisions for you. But I don't believe that the supremo intercedes personally into our affairs. The Holocaust would be one example of a more distant God. Free will is all there is here on earth. It does help if you embrace the concept of the God figure because it helps you make better or "moral" decisions and see our co-actors here on earth as equals and not less than ourselves. Let me be more clear: This supposed God of your idea didn't create this free will because of any preconceived notion of population or actions. It's just us. No other outside interceding force other that the decisions we humans make every minute of every day. A supreme being, by it's very nature, even in concept does not make errors. Errors are a human function. This incentive for good behavior, in our context, is the after-life and being at peace for doing as we have been encouraged to by various sons and daughters of God. Allah, Jesus etc. are the examples of correct behavior.

That's a pretty broad question that will get you a myriad of responsed from different sects. You're right, God created us all with free will, and we existed before we lived on earth. We had free will there and the ability to learn. However, we reached a point where we had learned everything we could while spirits, so the earth was created. Through obtaining bodies and learning to choose the good over evil, we could become better than we were before. It is something we chose to do, not a mandate from God. And, he is very concerned with our performance. It is his primary objective to help us succeed over obstacles in our way, but he lets us make the choice.

After all is said and done and we are finished here on earth, he will reward us all. Only a few will be worse off than they were before, and it will be better for all of us than we can imagine. (The Almighty doesn't make mistakes ... good for us.)

I hope this isn't some sort of a setup for bashing, especially from other Christains and Catholics. This is what I believe and what is taught by my church world-wide.

I truly believe man has had free will from the beginning. Without it, we would be merely puppets...doing what is pre-determined by a higher power. We have choices to make and consequences that will come from those choices. I don't think "over crowding" would be an issue in a heavenly place. Certainly there is an infinite aspect to a spiritual plane. I also believe that God gave us that incentive to behave morally because we are made in His image. If you look at the negative aspect of humanity, you may argue that God does not intervene at all on earth. If you look closely at the positive things done on this earth, you can argue the other side of that issue as well. You are far from stupid, Dear....for you have the insight to question such an issue. You will find the answer that is right to your heart in time. Good luck in your search for your truth.

This really is a loaded question and one not easily understood or answered. I will try as best I can to give the short answer. First God created perfect beings in His own image, therefore He created us with the cability not to sin. The choice we were given was a choice to remain Godlike and obey Him by choosing not to sin. Because of the fall we are now not capable of not sining (in effect we cannot help ourselves, we choose to sin). God being Perfect in every conceivable way can not make a mistake, nor would he set up His own creation, who he made to love unconditionally (That is why when Adam did sin, God immediately made provision for Christ to redeem us). There would not be a need for God to condemn us for fear of an over crowded Heaven. God made the heavens and the earth. He would simply just make more. He is after all God. I hope this very simple explanation to an extremely complicated topic helps your understanding in some way.

I am also not Christian, and I don't believe in God myself, but IF there were a god, I have to agree with many of the other responses in that God gave free will as an opportunity to allow humans to make their own mistakes while still giving them a path to salvation. Whether or not it was very NICE of God to do this or not is up in the air, but it seems to be the only logical response.

Good Question. I'll tell you what I believe. That doesn't mean it's right for everyone, or anyone. I believe we have free will, but I believe there is good and evil, and we are capable of both. So, because I follow Jesus' teachings, I try to make choices that I believe are acceptable to God. This whole 'God through Jesus' thing simply means that one relates to God as Jesus taught that one should relate to God. Anyway, because it does require some reflection, some pause, and some effort to behave this way, I look at it as a sort of humbling. You can either live life your way, or God's way. I choose the latter because I can't control all of the variables in life, and I feel vulnerable without spiritual help. I can't speak of the heaven and hell thing. I refuse to judge anyone, or any action. This, too, is part of the REAL Jesus teachings, not the judgemental fundamentalist version.

i think he gave us free will because hes a loving god and he is not a pushy god he knocks at the door and waits for our answer! like he gives us the total opportunity to choose him ! so he lets us learn the hard way sometimes but we don't have to we can follow his way the first time and not suffer ! he will always forgive us we have only to ask with a sincere heart . and it is done truly i do not believe he has giving us this free will as a set up but a back up so we can be closer to him ! does that make any since i hope so .... OK god bless

Is your hair color naturally blond? Sorry, it was there for the taking. But really, if you think of the concept of free will, there should be no incentives to behave, either you do good or you do evil, whatever you want. We have chosen to overpopulate our planet. Not a religious person, just talking from what I believe to be common sense. We can't expect God to solve our every little problem, how would we ever learn if it wasn't from our own mistakes and our need to fix our screw-ups? Just a thought.

it truly is a particularly vast question that receives you a myriad of responsed from different sects. you're precise, God created us all with free will, and we existed earlier we lived on earth. We had free will there and the means to study. even with the undeniable fact that, we reached a aspect the position we had discovered each and every thing shall we at the same time as spirits, so the earth became created. by acquiring bodies and gaining knowledge of to make your thoughts up on the best over evil, shall we grow to be extra perfect than we were earlier. it truly is a few thing we chosen to do, no longer a mandate from God. And, he's rather in touch with our overall performance. it truly is his commonly used objective to assist us be triumphant over hindrances in our way, yet he shall we us make the alternative. after all is asserted and done and we are complete the following on earth, he will reward us all. in common words some will be worse off than they were earlier, and it truly is going to be extra perfect for everyone than we can imagine. (The Almighty doesn't make mistakes ... good for us.) i wish this isn't some style of a setup for bashing, highly from different Christains and Catholics. that's what i trust and what's taught by my church international-huge.

Well lets see where to start... if you believe in the god of religion that is all powerful, all seeing, and all good then you have no free will. It is impossible to have free will if something already knows what has happened, what is happening, and what will happen, Personally I don't believe in god therefore I don't believe in free will because without the concept of god free will does not exist either.
