I'm not looking for fence-sitting answers here. I already know that there are many reasons to argue both for and against warfare. What I am asking is that you imagine you possess a magic amulet that gives you the power to end warfare everywhere, now and forever. Would you use it? What are your reasons, for or against using it? Would you hesitate before choosing or jump right in?

The background to this question is this:

Recently I asked here whether the world would be better off had gunpowder never been invented. To my surprise I received a resounding, "No!" I expected some no answers but it was actually unanimous. The reasons were varied. One suggested that without wars and the technology developed in and because of wars we might still be in the dark ages.

So how do you feel about this? Use the magic amulet or not?

I submitted a poem to poetry.com and they sent me mail and said it's been selected as a semi-finalist,so i had to send back in this artist proof page and they said i didn't need to do anything right now. but they way they talk, i'm going to have my poem published regardless of whether or not i become the "grand prize winner" and all. so i guess it'll be in there anyway?

I'm trying to write a piece exploring a coherence/holistic interpretation of knowledge where statements/theories are mutually supporting.

I am looking for a good example. "Evolution" is just too contentious and, as yet, too unspecific in its conlusions. "Plate techtonics" was another idea, but it seems just too singular in its output - not so much a group of inter-related theories but the only available meta-theory to stick onto the base thoeries.

What I'm really after is to be able to ask "how do we know X" and to have a group of theories supporting X, say, A, B, C and I can say "we could just as well started by asking how we know B"

Anyone got any ideas?

I just wrote it today. i also got a copywrite on it too!

Its called: Good Bye Friends

What a true site
With all the might
i just had a fight
and it was not right.

I get kept from with secrets behind my back
Kept by 2 peoople that look bad

U keep it up
im the strong one
im stronger...i can walk away

If u have a problem
then so be it
If u like me
Then be friend.

A true friend never keeps a secret from another friend
One way or another its gonna come out
whether u see my reaction or not.

Keep it up!
Im more strong!!
You will know it when the time comes.

Im walking away
I won't be back
Say "see you later"
Because you will soon realize it will come out
The truth i mean, that will be out!

Im leaving-good bye
See u in the after life

I am better off without you
I can survive without you
I don't feed off your B.S.

It was a matter of time...and it that ran out
See ya later good bye im gone
I hope u feel bad for what u have done

Hello,

Do you know a simple way of telling if a church/cathedral has a Roman, Gothic or Baroque architecture just by looking at it? And once you know, can you tell when it was built?

Thanks for your help,
Michael.

Do you really believe that it's worth holding out marrying someone/anyone on the slim chance that the universe may align one day, during your life-time, and you'll be thrown under the car of that person (metaphorically), or is a bird in the hand better than spinsterhood? And if I think that theory is twaddle, does that make me a pessimist or a realist? Now that our culture is so mobile compared to 100 or 200 years ago, are chances greater of finding your own TRUE LOVE or even smaller?
