9 million soldiers dead, 21 million maimed or wounded and at least 12 million civilians killed
Quoting from WWII for Dummies -"Over 60 million people died in WWII and of those 60 million, more were civilian than soldiers." Pages 363 and 364 give a run down with some numbers but does not offer a breakdown of the total civilian vs. soldier.

ww2, by far; they had more airplanes, added to more involvement in eastern europe and concentration camps and the purging of civilians; some of this went on during ww1, but not on the same scale; almost like ww1 was a dry run for ww2, in terms of new and "better" "more efficient" ways to slaughter civilians

ww1 was the most bloody, more died at the somme than everyone in ww2 put together. at the same time as ww1 more people died of the flu than the war itself.
