ok very long story short----

met this bloke a few wks ago-he still had a house with his ex but he worked days and she worked night so they never see each other-he said he sleeps on the settee now and the only thing he loves in that house is his new TV lol.

i REALLY like him-i am a different person when i think of him-caring, romantic etc (i'm usually cold and hard lol). he says he feels the same way as me and he tells me im 'amazing' etc. he has also told his friends and family about me even though he is technically still living with someone.

he said in the new year things will be different and he said he wants us to be together properly (which is what i want) obviously i wouldnt expect him to move out over christmas as that wouldnt be fair. should i wait? i have a feeling he could be a very special person after many failed relationships.

He has been to the doctor and HE said that he said to spice things up. I have tried everything. He just seems like he doesn't want sex from me. I don't understand. He is 46 and I am 47. What would you do if your wife can't have children? Like you were newlyweds and you just found out..would you leave her?

The reason this bothers me is that I go to a very small church in a very small town. Everyone except the one Jewish husband goes up to get communion. I have never been baptized. I have been going to the church and been active for 15 years now.
So far I have avoided being put on the spot directly. But often 'they' want me to lead Sunday school or take more of a role and I don't feel I should, I hardly read the bible. If I ever told anyone I'd never been baptized I would be 'in for it' with a lot of people trying to get me to do it, and telling me what I fake I have been for taking communion. I just find it easier to take the communion. I believe in an afterlife and I believe Jesus was a very important link to moral living and the spirit world. But to me, getting baptized is all about saying 'every other religion' is wrong and I don't feel that way. But isn't baptism supposed to be your admitting that Jesus is the only way to heaven? Help !

not that i'm saying i get alot, but my initial reaction is to tell people that 'oh no, i'm not pretty" or to quickly change the subject. i KNOW that i'm not handling these well, but i've never figured out the right way to take a compliment. i've tried just saying thank you, but it always sounds forced.

I have read some posts on here where individuals believe it is rude to request money for a funeral. I did not learn of the practice of giving the gift of money until my grandmother had passed away, and I cannot tell you how much the funds assisted with paying for everything involved to properly lay her to rest; as she did not have insurance.

My question is, how do I politiely and properly request individuals give money? I have a friend who just lost her son on Christmas Day. He was sick for many years (and un-insurable), they do not have much money and are talking about taking out a home equity loan to try and pay for a proper funeral. They do have two other children to think of as well and I'd like to do whatever I can to ensure those who wish to pay their respects do so with a donation to the family instead of flowers. PLEASE HELP!

Do you ever confuse the two? As an atheist I see myself doing this sometimes. There is a big difference between saying "there is a creator, but just because he created the universe doesn't necessarily mean he's omnipotent, omniscient, or omnibenevolent, just that he's capable of creating" and saying "there is a god whom I have a personal relationship with, he looks out for me and talks to me, and he wants me to praise him"

The first one is almost reasonable, although I still don't believe it, and the second one (IMO) is baseless and arrogant. The first one isn't really enough to build a religion off of because it's so bland that there's really no point in worshipping this entity.

I think atheists are doing ourselves a disservice when we blur the distinction between the two and someone who takes the more bland approach will justifiably get defensive when we do.

Can this bland approach exist without religion? What reason other than faith can one have to suspect a creator?

My boyfriend has been depressed lately and last night he said he was staying at his friends house since we live on the other side of town and his car is broke and he has to go into work early and didn't want to bother me. Well at 3:15am his boss left a message asking why he hasn't shown up for work and that he is mad that he has done this a couple times lately. I talked with his boss this morning and he never showed up. So should I confront him about not going to work or wait and give him a chance to come clean?
