but you can talk about any other religion & that seems to be ok? Why does the name Jesus make people uncomfortable? Could it be it is the name above all names?

You answered your own question. That anti-christ spirit don't want to hear anything about JESUS. REMEMBER EVERY SINCE ADAM & EVE SIN THE DEVIL HAS BEEN HAVING HIMSELF A FIELD UNTIL JESUS CAME ON THE SCENE, AND PEOPLE START BELIEVING AND GETTING SAVED.

I guess it could be uncomfortable, because of the way someone might approach you with it. It all depends, Jesus was a real person who preach love & peace, did have allot of influence, if not we wouldn't be talking about him. Now so was the profit Mohammad and Sidartha and Confucius and so on. Someone like me would probably bring Jesus up while we are talking about History and Philosophy and it's within our conversation, but for example: Me and some fellow students on lunch break were talking about computers and whatnot and out of nowhere this guy sits next to us (we know him from class and waving hi to em) and laughs with us then says "hey dose anyone here know Jesus?" Now we know where he is headed with this, so it becomes uncomfortable. The same thing happened to me again with some older lady after we were saying some funny dirty jokes.Very uncomfortable, ruins the mood. This would be the same if any other religious prophet was mentioned in a way as to make a person fell guilty or something. It's the way someone approaches you. Unless someone read every scripture from all religions, has a Masters in world history, Physics, Anthropology, Astrology, psychology, Philosophy and has walked the planet and prayed in every temple. They have no right to say what religion is the truth, it's just a matter of opinion and thats all.

I think it may be because many people have a hard time understanding how people can worship a man who walked the earth like every other man before and after him. He was born, lived and died like everyone else. I would be just as uncomfortable sitting next to a follower of Jim Jones. Granted, I don't think Jesus had the same ill will that Jim Jones did, but it can be considered comparable in many ways.

This is truly my opinion, but i'm anticipating 5 or more thumbs down in the next hour ;) The clock starts....NOW...

Yes, It is the Name above all Names, "JESUS."
I think People get offended and are uncomfortable when they hear His Name because, They are immediately Placed UNDER conviction. They also feel intimidated.
The Holy Spirit Convicts them. ( NOT US) This is the way He deals with Lost people. Jesus Is Not in RELIGION. ........He Is SALVATION. There is a difference, My Friend.

People get offended because of the nature of their spirit. Everything in the flesh tries to pull you from the Lord. It's a matter of coming above that. That is not to say that we are perfect because as you know the flesh is contrary to god, and every breathing man is in the flesh. Jesus is king of kings and lord of lords. I find it amazing that people will ban the word of God from schools, and public places yet everyone has a piece of paper in their wallet stamped with his name! or a coin. "in god we trust" yet people cry out that this is the way it is, that the word of our savior is oppressive but people may wear shirts bearing death and destruction. Is that not too oppressive? "Be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of the mind" a saying that is often repeated to me. Also "my sheep shall know my voice and none other shall they follow" alas, I digress before i go on another tangent :) Happy new year!

It could cause people to view Jesus in another light than people think he is.

Understand that people are very sensitive about religion in this world.

I personally don't believe in Jesus, and I am perfectly comfortable discussing Jesus or any religious issues.

The Name of Jesus is the Name Above Every Other Name. It strikes fear in the hearts of the devil and God's adversaries alike. The Lord however is NOT mocked. Jesus Is The Christ Everlasting, The Amen.

From the time of the bogus trial prior to the crucifixion, there were those that hated Jesus as much as those that loved Him. For those of us that believe He is The Word sent down to man, The Son of God, The Messiah, we have developed a relationship with Him and The Father that allows us grow closer and more like Him everyday. For those that choose to resist the truth and deny themselves the promise of salvation and everlasting life, it is frightening to imagine what will become of their lives after death. They look at us in all our confidence and I honestly believe they hate us for our joy because they don't understand. Furthermore, they will never understand if they don't accept the fact that Jesus is The One and The Only way to The Father. They don't have the promise of salvation. They aren't being blessed as we are on a daily basis. They rely on their own means which are far inferior to The Power we have watching over us. We pray for them. We offer our love and support. We are there to assist whenever and where ever possible. We tell them The Good News. We show them scripture and offer historical proof that what is written is real. But, they close their hearts and their minds because they do not have faith in what they cannot see. It is their personal choice to close their eyes and ears to this abundant love. Therefore, we will be persecuted and rewarded for our persecution.

It is written, "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely s allkinds of evil against you; because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Matthew 5:11-12.

Excellent question! I've noticed that the most vocal "atheists" also seem to be the most confrontational and angry. However, if we agree that "atheist" means "one who believes there is no God" I don't understand the anger. There are many many things I personally don't believe in, but the mere idea of them doesn't anger me. I get on with my life. I don't believe the whole "alien abduction/Roswell/area 51" nonsense--so I ignore it. I don't go around searching for websites or groups about alien contact with the sole intention of ragging on those who credit such things.

I've often thought that perhaps those who holler about it the most have issues. If it isn't true it shouldn't upset you.

If you are not following Jesus you are following a thief. Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) The devil is this thief that comes up with false teachers and religions. False teachers and religions only come to steal, kill, and destroy. So this makes the devil a liar. We have already learned that Jesus is the truth. Do you want to follow a liar or the way, the truth, and the life?
