Buddhism believes in soul-migration (or sometimes mistakenly called reincarnation). If we look at all beings;
- There are 6.500.000.000 people on this earth,
- Tens of billions are large and medium sized animals,
- Hundreds of Trillions small animals, like worms and flies.
The ratio "human : animal" is uttely small.
It'd take millions of years for a animal to reincarnate into a human.
1) Isn't the suffering of an animal disproportionally great (in terms of time)?
2) If the true nature of the universe is emptiness, why is there even life at all? Did life came from nothing with as goal to achieve nothing?
3) Why does a "fair" theory like reincarnation sounds so "unfair" to me? Look at a duck with the idea that the poor animal must reincarnate the coming million years full of suffering...

I hope that someone who knows about Buddhism can give me his/her opinion on this.

Personally, I think religion and science can get along just fine... at least they do in my small brain.

I'm appalled at what I've seen from believers in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, to Intelligent Design.

Science is a different approach to finding truth than faith.... different, but why are both sides often seemingly trying to prove the other side wrong?

To me it seems to go against the edicts of both religion in general, and the scientific method.

You can't really prove religion is true or false, so why try? They aren't built on the same basis. God gave us reason - therefore we should use it. However, can't people that decide to ONLY use science as a means of their personal beliefs be open enough to allow for others to believe as they wish without thinking they are ignorant? Science should always be open to anything - so should religion in my mind. Let's stop closing doors.

Sorry - lots of questions here - Personally, when I get to heaven, I'm going to ask about the dinosaurs.

i had a sip of my friends up at school but it didn't taste strong enough to get drunk off of, i read about it and found out it has more alcohol and a higher proof than grey goose! which gets me f*cked up! so how much goldschlager does it take to get you drunk??

This past weekend my dog slipped while playing and ventrally luxated (dislocated) her femur and in the progess, she broke her acetabulum. She is had to have major hip surgery and has 6 weeks of recovery time. During this time she is on restricted activity, no running, jumping, etc. She has to be on a leash at all times. She is a 1 1/2 y.o. husky, and as you probably know, is full of energy! Two days after the surgery and she already wants to play! Anyone know any good ways of not only keeping her calm but also ways to keep her from being bored? Any suggestions will help!

Since Cena went down, they pushed Jericho even harder to come back and he did without the storyline he was promised.

They brought HBK back when he was not ready and told him that he didnt have to work house shows.

and lastly

They brought JBL back to being a wrestler to the RAW Brand.

So for people who say WWE does not need Cena, the ratings show that they do and Vince and the rest of the WWE know that he was the foundation of the company.

he also makes my children stand on the wall for hours and they never have any adult supervision. when i call i talk to them for hours and the only time there is an adult around is after someone gets hurt. i feel so bad i want to call cps or go back to court but i dont know where to start or if it will even help if i call cps will they put into foster homes im so confused on what to do please help me

I'm panic stricken. I think, (maybe, possibly?) that this guy isn't the one i'm supposed to settle down with. When we put the deposit down, I was sure he was the one. He's lovely and has always treated me so well, but deep down, I want more from a relationship. I don't like his family (but that's besides the point). Do i live with and marry a guy who i'm averagely happy with, or do i end it all (house, engagement) and hold out for someone who is everything i could possible wish for.......? I've been unsure about this relationship for about 4 months......we've been together for 4 years and engaged for a year. I feel desperately confused, unfulfilled etc. HELP!
