The Long Haul
Written By Semper Fi Reborn
I'd rather be home,
But I have to deliver this load.
I can't remember a day,
When I wasn't on the road.
Sure my wife understands,
The kids understand.
That Daddy's a long haul,
Trucking man.
Delivering supplies we need,
That the pulic craves.
My rig and me,
Have to work like slaves.
Seperated from home,
On a stretch of tar,
Or dirt, snow or gravel,
We have to travel,
So far.
To my family most times,
I'm a voice on the phone.
My wife takes care of the business at home.
My world is lonely,
And far less appealing.
But to make ends meet,
I'm 18 wheeling.
I guess I'm doing this,
For all of y'all.
I'm a trucking man or woman,
And I'm on the long haul.

Oh, Semper, you really captured the life of a trucker in this poem. It is so true, it made me cry when I read it! My husband had to leave the family behind on Christmas to deliver a load to El Paso, Texas which is over 2,000 miles from where we live. He stayed at home as long as he could, and went without sleep for the next 14 hours to make his first stop in Baton Rouge, LA. because he didn't really want to go, but had to because that's his job. I could see the hurt in his eyes, and he kept hugging us and telling us he loved us and wished us Merry Christmas over and over again! For the next week or longer, that's as close as we'll get, a voice on the phone. It is a hard life for him, for all the other truckdrivers, and for the families. Thank you so much for this! I can hardly wait until he gets back home to show it to him! With your permission, I would like to print it and put a copy of your poem in the office of the trucking company my husband works for - it will really bless them too!
Again, thank you Brother Semper. You have a true gift from God that touches the hearts of your readers! God bless you!!!
Your sister in Christ,
Virginia

Man,this is the anthem for every working man or woman.I can really relate to this one.I always tell my son that even though I work really long hours, I do it all for him.Sometimes when one does work long hours, or away from home alot it takes a toll on your mental, but reading this makes you understand why one will tough it out for an honest dollar over the alternative.
Thanks Semp,another winner!!!!

Semper Brother,
Your words truly inspire. You so, have God`s gift of love and words.. You are a blessing to the world.. A breath of fresh air.. We love ya.. God bless.
Lord fill him with the words you would have him say. Let the world see YOU in his words. Let your light shine in Semper, for the world to see, he is much beloved of you. God we thank you for the blessing of word that you gave to Semper. He is doing good works with it.. In Jesus name, Amen.

The Demon
by TD Euwaite
Highway signs
White solid lines, transfix
Engine noise, tires humming
Headlights dance entoptic circles
Amber glass reflections
Cool air blasts
Eyes open
Adrenaline current
Rumbling corrugated warning
Snaps awake, from the edge
Take back control
From the demon
At the wheel
Sleeping
