Last week I was chewing on my fingernails, (bad habit, I know) and my nail slipped and it felt like it sliced my gums open. There was no bleeding but it stayed sore for a few days. It's still sore but only if I touch it. There is also a small white bump, I'm describing it looking like a zit, in that same area. What could this be? And why would it have been this painful with it just being a scratch?

Let's make the assumption that the rate at which a person experiences time, or how fast time seems to "fly," depends on how much time the person has previously experienced.

More the the point, let's say that someone is born on January 1, 2000. A ball which had been held at a height in a uniform gravitational field, is dropped and starts to fall. The person's first year of life corresponds to the ball falling though the first meter.

The interval of calendar time from 1 Jan 2001 to 1 Jan 2002 corresponds to the ball's drop from one meter to two meters below the release point. And so on.

The idea is that each meter the ball drops corresponds to a calendar year of the child's life, but, rather than being proportional to the child's calendar age, the cumulative time in which the ball has been falling is proportional to the child's psychological age.

Assume the person lives to a calendar age of 72. At what age is his life half over, psychologically speaking?

I am 17 years old and am a junior in high school. I have a few college picks, but would you recommend them? My current GPA is a 3.89 but that is with an honors class and two AP classes. Some of my favorite colleges are Boston U, Boston College, Northeastern U, Emerson U or Brown U. Which of these colleges look at the rigor of the classes more than the actual GPA?

Also, my SAT scores are unavailable, so you will have to work with just my GPA... I am really sorry!

Jefferson neighborhood celebrates diversity, housing mix
The area offers distinctive architecture near downtown.

When the Jefferson neighborhood was little more than cow pasture in the early and mid-1900s, developers touted it as the premier place to live. It was just minutes from downtown, yet far enough removed to be disease-free at a time when tuberculosis, smallpox and other contagions ran rampant in the muggy, cramped center of town.

It was where people with money could go and escape from the city, yet live with all the comforts of civilization - water, sewer, electricity and gas lines.

In its day, it made national news for the unique architectural style of Jefferson High School, built in the early 1930s. About a decade later, the Jefferson Village in the heart of the neighborhood became the first shopping center of its kind in the nation.

But there was one stipulation to living in the neighborhood. Residents must be Anglo.

I am Working out of a text book called Microsoft Office 2003 Where I am trying to create my first Macro. The book tells to open up a blank work book. Then to start my creating my Macro. First I am to pull down the Tools menu, point to Macro Command, Click on Record New Macro. The Record Macro Dialog Box appears where I am to name the Macro. Then type a lower case "n" in the short cut key box and choose " This Work Book" in the store macro in drop down. Then Click O.K. to record the Macro. From there a Stop Recording Toolbar should appear, But does not. The text also instructs me to pull down tools menu, Click Macro-- Click Stop Recording command if the Stop Recording Toolbar doesn't appear. I have tried this method with no success. Could anyone shed some light on this subject?
