Canadian hockey man- Ya i see it now, i simply didnt want to do the research to see if the red wings had played a game in which The king was the starter. Which is why i came here and got my real answer.

Also i know that comparing is like Apples to Oranges but you can still do it as they are both in the upper echelon of the league right now. Also if the rangers o had started to click earlier it is safe to say The King would have led the rangers to one of the best records in the nhl right now. Much the same way Zetterberg and that top line has done for the wings, not to mention the help of incredible goalie Osgood filling in for an injured Hasek.

Zetterberg and Lundqvist faced off against one another for the first time January 14, 2006 in Detroit. Detroit won the game 4-3 and while Zetterberg didn't score a goal, he registered an assist on a goal by current Ranger Brendan Shanahan at 5:48 of the 3rd period to give Detroit a 3-2 lead.

They faced off for the 2nd time on February 4, 2007 at MSG with Detroit winning again 4-3. Zetterberg assisted on Pavel Datsyuk's 1st period goal at 7:24. At 12:36 of the third period, while on a Detroit power play, Zetterberg scored the game winning goal against Henrik Lundqvist.

So yes, Henrik Zetterberg has scored against Henrik Lundqvist....1 goal, 2 assists...in 2 games

Zetterberg is the next captain, no doubt about it. I don't ever see the wings taking the C from Lidstrom, since he is such a great leader and top 20(if not higher) defensemen of all time. So if this were to happen Lids would have to step down, which I don't see him doing either. Nick only has a few more years left anyway, so I say let him play that out as the leader of the wings. Remember, Hank is signed through the 20-21 season so he'll have his turn. Datsyuk will get the short end of the stick

Which is better is like comparing apples to oranges.

But I'll give Lundqvist the nod as more important to his team, he truly is a good goalie, and having a great goalie is one of the most important positions, if not THE most, in order for a team to do well, a star forward can be replaced much easier as well. The goalie is on the ice the full 60 minutes, where as a top line forward is on for about 20.

They both have left a mark in Sweden, and hopfully both will do the same in the NHL.

I don't know. The Rangers need the goaltending, and the Wings need Zetterberg to go with Datsyuk and Holmstrom. You can't have Datsyuk by himself and produce 100 points seasonly, but with Hank there, it shouldnt be an issue.

But the Rangers, without Lundqvist, would be nowhere as good right now. He really is the leader of that team, over Shanny and Jagr. A championship team starts in net, and without a good goalie, your not getting a championship.

Excellent answer Moose, as much as I don't believe Grant Fuhr should be in the Hall of Fame (he's has the highest goals against average, fewest shutouts, worst shutout/games ratio, etc) he came up big in the playoffs every year.

The Stanley Cup begins in the net and every other team that has won a Stanley Cup has done so with excellent goaltending.

never. they have not played eachother in a regular season NHL game.

Lundquist is more important to his team. on detroit you have datsyuk, on the rangers you have valiquette.

Lundquist also had the name from when he played in the top league in sweden. he was the mvp of the league. he also played a huge role in the gold medal run.
