Well, as a question, you ended it with the word 'the', and sometimes in books and novels when something happens in the book there is usually a sentence that ends with "what the?". A lot of stories including a novel I'm writing contains the word 'the' being cut off at the end of a sentence or the beginning of a new chapter, such as: "What is going on here. What the--" The sentence was cut off at the word 'the' to give off suspense to the reader.

Given that a question is a type of sentence, you just did, however, in the way you used it, it should be enclosed in quotation marks since you are talking about the word "the" and not simply utilizing it. Normally, since "the" is an article it must modify a noun that would come after it. Thus, no, one does not typically end a sentence with the word "the."

Ummm sometimes, it depends on the sentence. You used the word ''the'' at the end of a sentence. Thats a really good question.I would say it really depends. You cant say
The cat can always dance the.....
that would be a imperative sentence ( not correct )
if you end it in ''the'' we dont know what.
So it depends
