I bought a new 22 inch LCD monitor (samsung 226bw) about a week ago but everytime I use it, it hurts my eyes because the refresh rate is too low.

When I take a look at the refresh rate it's only at 60hz. I'm pretty sure this is why my eyes hurt.

My question is why the max refresh is only 60hz for this brand new top of the line monitor? (or am I mistaken and it's possible to make the refresh higher somehow?)

more info: running windows vista at the monitors native resolution ( 1680 x 1050 ). Have installed the latest monitor software/drivers and graphics drivers but the max vista shows the monitor can go up to is 60 hz.

My old monitor was running at a refresh rate of 85 hz and I had no eye strain.

They use less than 1/4 of the power regular light bulbs do, not to mention drastically lower your electric bills.

My hair is naturally light brown. I've been bleaching it for years, on and off professionally. I'm confident enough with coloring that I've started doing it myself - I am now close to platinum. There are some parts of my hair that are uneven in color, though. The top is like a white/platinum and some parts of the bottom have a yellow hue. I always tone after bleaching and use a purple shampoo...why is my hair still uneven? Should I only tone the bottom half next time I touch my roots up? Why is this happening? Also, has anyone heard of CHI Infra Color? I've heard it lightens as well as bleach with less damage. Please give me any hints/suggestions. Thanks!

peculiar to 'advanced' countries '......or let's just say there's little or no such in third world countries. I mean, sure people still get attacked in third world countries like mine.. but not in such methodical ways ala the fictional Hannibal Lecter... or the very real BTK (he was very methodical), Dahmer, Bundy or that one in Palo Alto (Ramirez) who killed my aunt years ago. I think there are such cases in some European countries, too. Do you think that social pressures in an advanced society has something to do with it? Any thoughts on this one?

Am posting this one in the movies category as there are quiet a few films (Hannibal, for one...and dozens of slasher flicks) were made on such subject.

I'm in the market for a new car and i'm looking for something i can get for under $25,000. I'm looking for something sporty but i want backseats. I want a car with good handling and pretty good performance.
Right now i'm looking at the Civic SI, the VW GTI, Lancer GTS and so on. If getting a FWD car i want to make sure it doesn't torque steer too much.
So i'm asking for any ideas of other types of cars i can get and why you suggest those; or if you believe i should get one of the cars i listed then please explain why. Thanks in advance for all the help.

The US has laws against cruel and unusual punishment in our constitution. The worst of the worst of our criminals are treated in a humane fashion and even if facing the death penalty it is carried out in the least cruel fashion possible.

Why do most Christians seem to have no problem with the torture of the wicked with fire for eternity when even in a fallen world we would not do such a thing?

well this is my pathetic plea for help because i have no life, i'm a completely insignificant human, unloved and unneeded by society. during the week all i do is go to school and space out for 7 hrs. all i can think about during school are all the other things i could be doing to help the world. i'm stuck in this fckin s-hole of a city learning useless numbers so that i can go to college, get a job, have kids, retire, that dull cycle. sometimes i just want to run away and join the peace corps or some b.s. like that, actually helping people. people dont understand me. everyone at my school thinks life revolves around money and clothes and hollister sh*t. does no one care about the state of the world? 1000s starving everyday? i have very few friends, and none of them think about anything deep the way i do. i feel completely alone. during school i feel like i'm just going to fail anyway and end up on the street asking for change for food or killing myself. please give support...

We purchased a camper recently and the previous owners attached a screenhouse and "sealed" the cracks with a spray foam polyeurathane insulation / foam. It turned "gold" colored. We removed the screen house and peeled off , to the best we could, the insulation foam from the spray can...however, sticky residue and hardened foam is stuck to the outside of our travel trailer. Any product that may remove it? Really hate the thought of sanding it off and then repainting a 3 year old travel trailer!!! HELP!

My fiancee not long ago went to a wedding where the bride and groom wanted a chocolate cake, but wanted to look traditional. So the bride came up with the idea of icing and decorating a styrofoam block cut out which appeared to the guests, but after slicing it together, they went out back and served up the pre cut chocolate cake from the fridge.

Well, I just started cross country this year, its my first. When I started to do the conditioning and the normal workouts, I seemed to do pretty good. Now its about halfway through the season and my legs get sooo tired during 5k races. My left foot also hurts like heck right below the achilles tendon on the back of the heel, and around the ankels as well. I have a meet in 2 days, should I take these two days off before it to heal a bit , or will it make me run worse on my meet as opposed if i ran those two days.

I am trying to find song to dance with my step dad at my wedding. He has always been real good to me, but its never been the fauther-daughter kind of relationship.
