Oh Lord yes. When I travel to disaster areas with Red Cross we change rooms often, I get disoriented every single time, too many stubbed toes, banging into walls or tripping over something in the middle of the night. Normally, my day starts at 4:30 AM, so it is still dark our for at least an hour or hour and a half before sunrise

I sometimes get disoriented in my own home in the middle of the night. If I wake up from a deep sleep and need a drink from the kitchen or whatever else, I sometimes feel disoriented. I don't travel much, but I'm sure that it would be the same. I suggest carrying a night light with you when you travel. Oh, I see that you do. Nothing wrong with that. I know many people of many ages that do the same.
A flashlight is an excellent idea. You can get one of the rechargeable flashlights that you turn the handle to recharge. I keep one on my nightstand for such occasions, No batteries needed.

I get disoriented if I decide to sleep in my grandaughters room when she is away for the weekend. Her room has a tv and I always carry my little flashlight with me now after body checking the side wall a few times.

I need to have a little bit of light when I wake up. I could get seriously disoriented in my own bedroom if it was pitch dark in there.
Unfortunately, I am married to a man who insists on total darkness and total quietness. Says he can't sleep, even with the clock dial emitting a tiny bit of light. He will wake up in the bedroom, if I am in the kitchen and I set down a cup on the counter, or open the fridge. Will growl at me to be quiet, don't I know he needs to get up early in the morning?

A night light is a good idea. I carry flashlights, regular size and penlight size for use in the middle of the night.
My answer to your question is no, as I move around so much no place seems like home!

Yes, I get disoriented wherever I am, if it's really dark. I was at my daughter's recently and heard her dog barking. I looked out the window and didn't see anything wrong, so I closed the shutter back. I laid my hand on the bed and 'flopped' myself onto it, only to realize I'd hit their hardwood floor-bam! I was folded up between the bed and a wooden night stand. I had the fan running, so they didn't hear me fall. I had hit my head, shoulders, and tailbone. They were all hurting and it was all I could do to get back into bed. I could hardly walk the next day, but was grateful nothing was broken.

Oh yes, I even do it at home sometimes. If I wake up from a dream in the middle of the night my surroundings seem strange to me and for a minute I'll wonder where I am!

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/FXgBy
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

I can't say that I have, at least I don't remember. I don't need a night light because the light coming from under the door to my room is bright enough to have a party by! lol

When I was working the swing shift, I would get disoriented really quick. Now that I have moved to mom and dads place, it happens very easy here as well. I don't have to be anywhere else for it to happen to me.
