I'm in the market for a new car and i'm looking for something i can get for under $25,000. I'm looking for something sporty but i want backseats. I want a car with good handling and pretty good performance.
Right now i'm looking at the Civic SI, the VW GTI, Lancer GTS and so on. If getting a FWD car i want to make sure it doesn't torque steer too much.
So i'm asking for any ideas of other types of cars i can get and why you suggest those; or if you believe i should get one of the cars i listed then please explain why. Thanks in advance for all the help.

2006 Pontiac GTO made by Holden In Australlia I bet you quit looking at Hondas as soon as you see what 400#ft of torque can do! My car makes 421 at the rear wheels with just a couple modifications. So far 14,000 miles with out a single warranty return to the dealership. New they cost 32.500 I bet you could find a low mile example for just what you want to pay. Not good in the snow however.

The GTi is good but the backseat isn't great and VW have problems with their electrical systems. It's fast and handles well. Civic SI is not a good deal right now. It has a $3000.00 markup right now so in a year when the markup goes down, you'll already be 3 grand in the hole. Also, it only has 139 torque which means you'll have very little low end power and hills won't be fun. Don't bother with the Lancer, it's a grocery getter. Check out the Subaru Impreza WRX. It's a four door with a decent backseat, 225HP turbocharged flat four (like Porsches have) and all wheel drive. It has an incredible amount of grip on any road and in any weather. It's also very reliable but the interior is kind of cheap and it's not incredible comfortable because of the stiff suspension. You also might notice it has some understeer so you lose a little power on turns, but its made up for with the all wheel drive. There are a lot of cheap and practical aftermarket parts of it if you're into that. If you don't plan on going to the aftermarket, and don't detest American cars, the Dodge Neon Srt-4 has a fair bit of horsepower and you might like it but I won't go into it because of a personal deep seeded hatred of them. Reliable = Laughable. Check out the Scion tC, it's basically a Toyota so it's reliable, has cheery handling and a cheap outlook on life but it has a bit of spunk with 160 hp. Consider that I'm biased because I own a WRX and a good friend and neighbor of mine owns a GTi, but I would go with one of those. GTi you're losing some power and handling and reliablity, but you're getting a MUCH MUCH more comfortable and enjoyable ride. The WRX is a monster, I love it, it's fast, can take a V-8 Mustang from a stop if you launch it right (stock). It's cheap, flimsy, rickety but take a test drive and it won't even matter.

the best cars are to get a Honda Civic Si, Subaru WRX, Toyota Camry, Scion TC, and in my opinion the Civic of WRX good gas mpg and the wrx is a 4 wheel so get ready to accelerate really fast. Both are easy to modify!
