When you get word that last-minute guests are on their way to your home, you can probably think of a dozen or more things you need to do: fix your appearance, clean your home, prepare food and drinks. What do you think is the most important thing to do before visitors arrive to make them feel welcome?

I was reading this article on USAToday.com and from the KGO website about how the SF Film Commission denied the Marines permission to film in the city for NO good reason at all and would not explain to reporters the reasons for their decision. In the KGO article it also mentions how the city blocked the USS Iowa from docking here, banned the junior ROTC from high schools, and trys to to ban the yearly Blue Angels air show.

Do you think it was wrong of the film commission to deny the Marines permission to film? Also do you think leaders in the city of SF don't like the military for some reason. Do you think the film commission and other leaders have gone to far in other instances in trying to block the military from doing things in the city? I just wanted to get people's opinions from the Bay Area b/c SF gets a lot of negative media attention for it's liberalism and stuff like this is why, even though I know it's not as bad as people not from the area think it is.

Do you feel that our laws are outdated and our society is not functioning right?
Do you feel it fair that if it’s not broken for majority, it’s not broken at all?
Do you think it needs fixing and if yes, how?

Let's take the first case under consideration. In my view, it is possible to be a good Christian and a Buddhist, because Christianity tends to be dismissive of the Buddha as a "mere mortal". The practical doctrines of Buddhism (the precepts and the Eightfold Path) are consistent with the Ten Commandments or monastic vows. The spiritual doctrines of Buddhism (Enlightenment, Samsara and Nirvana) are treated as mistaken, but essentially harmless.

However, it is my view that it's impossible to be a good Buddhist and a Christian. A true Buddhist would have to reject the dominance of the Holy Trinity (although not necessarily its existence), because it would imply that the teachings of Buddha were wrong. A holy being (deva or god) is still a subject to rebirth and suffering, and cannot be the ideal towards which people strive. Also, the true salvation comes only after a person dies and is NEVER reborn, which directly contradicts the idea of Heaven.

Any thoughts?

Just started happening.

When I park and turn off my car the tail/brake lights stay on. I have to remove the fuse to turn them off.

What is it?

P.S. No dashboard lights indicating a problem.

My husband and I just bought a car and the stupid thing doesn't have a temperature gauge. It has a light that tells you when the car is overheating and it has a little info display that tells you the temperature of the coolant. I have no idea if 189 degrees F is a low temp, mid or high. I would really love to know what temperature indicates that the car is getting hot, so I can pull over before the car overheats.

The rest of the car is just lovely, but when you're on a budget you don't always get everything you want.
