I'm not sure if wormwood and southernwood are the same plants, and if anybody could tell me, that would be great! Thanks!

I don't want to know what the plants are; I just want to know if wormwood is another name for the plant, southernwood.

It appears that they are closely related, in the same genus, but different species.

Note, though, that other common names for southernwood or "oldman wormwood" and "southern wormwood".

Southernwood is Artemisia abrotanum.
Wormwood is Artemisia absynthium.

This is why we have the scientific genus and species names for plants in science rather than going by common names.

Depending upon which wormwood you are thinking of, the answer could be, "Yes, they are the same thing," or "No, they are not the same thing."
