what's the most memorble moment during his career? do you think he'll ever come out of retirement and get behind the wheel once again? many of his commentator buddies rib him on that from time to time.

He retired after the 2005 season. I hope he goes back to racing cause i cannot stand him in the booth. He is the John Madden of stock car racing. Rusty shut up and get back behind the wheel.

Finally someone who asked a decent question about my man Rusty!! Let me tell you Rusty could stand still in the middle of a race track for 24 hours and I would remember it!!Love my Rusty!! As far as racing again -- I sure do miss him in the #2 (Kurt Busch did not earn that ride-butt hole that he is) but after what happened to SR I am glad he retired--don't want to lose him the way we lost Big E

This is yet another good example of a good driver, becoming a bad commentator............. he should retire from commentating and work on his son, trying to make him better driver.....

2005 He retired from racing to go into broadcasting, first with IRL.

2008 Hopefully he retires from broadcasting, I am so sick of hearing him on ESPN.

He is a much better driver, and should either go back to racing, or coach his son as a spotter during races...but please don't let him boradcast in 08.

Wish he would stay as an announcer for the IRL . Let someone else be the Nascar announcer and I sure as heck don't mean DW
