GUYS -- Why do guys freak out when the relationship is going really well?

You're dating a woman you REALLY like. In fact, you both really like each other. Everything's going great. Each date better than the one before. A healthy deeper connection/friendship is developing. Both of you are really enjoy the interaction. You seek out each other's company. The chemistry on all levels is amazing. It's toally natural. People around you notice how happy you both are. Then unprovoked by anything she's done part of you inside emotionally withdraws, even while outwardly you're still treating her like a queen, calling her everyday, continuing to spend time together, making plans, etc. Why? Why do you get scared like that? What's going on and what should she make of it?

Why is it unpatriotic to question military men only if you're a liberal?

Several times the opinions of retired military generals has been ignored by conservatives regarding the Iraq War.

I don't have a problem with this. If you think the retired generals are wrong, you're entitled to that opinion. What I do have a problem with is the double-standard when it comes to criticizing Petraeus.

Would you wear something just because your boyfriend wants you too?

Whenever someone asks a question like "Should I wear a short skirt for my boyfriend" etc there always seems to be a lot of answers like "wear what you want". I respect this answer and believe that it is only true to an extent.

My previous boyfriend always wanted me to wear stockings and suspenders to work.(We work at the same office) I refused but on his birthday I wore them as I treat. It actually made me feel very sexy that he made me wear them for him.

Therefore my question is would you wear anything (within reason) for a boyfriend or should you dress for yourself?

Symbolic vs literal is the answer every Christian sect gives for the many contradictions in the Bible, which is precisely why there are so many Christian sects. Each sect interprets the Bible their own way. Some take statements to be literal while others take the same as symbolic. Who makes THAT determination?

But, have you ever considered that the reason for the contradictions is that since the Bible is so large and written by more than one person, it is hard to keep up with the fantasy. Haven't you noticed how a liar has to continue to lie because he forgets the lies he have told?

A new night
beginning of the sacred month
the thin slice of the crescent
visible only a few minutes
to the naked eye

Awaiting the news, here, far away
in a land pretentiously secular
with In God We Trust
visited only on Sunday

Awaiting watching the Internet for the crescent news
And some calls made
Relatives far flung: Chicago, New York, London,
Frankfurt and Los Angeles

Yes! The crescent has been sighted! Ramadan Mubarakh!
Over miles and miles and miles of telephone lines

The masjid schedule consulted, and alarm clock set.
For the meal before first light

Work the next day, same tempo, same schedule.
The boss and co-workers say; "Oh, you're fasting?" "Why?"
Unable to comprehend the beauty of a simple ritual:
"Come, we're going to see a movie after work; we wont make you eat"(!)

Going home, 1/2 hour before sunset
from the 9-5 routine, never ending, never changing

Arriving home, break fast with some friends
meal cooked the night before.

Remembrance of Ramadan in Karachi, Casablanca, Lahore, Cairo
and Dhaka

Tears, and anger expressed today: Murder and slaughter on this day!
Killed in prostration!
Where Abraham (peace be upon him) lies!
Martyrdom in a Holy month!
On Holy land!

And hope expressed: Our faith desecrated,
but,
fastest growing in America!
A simple prayer; perhaps one day we will fast in San Francisco,
as we fasted in Dhaka, Cairo, Lahore, Casablanca and Karachi

And the fast is broken
and later friends and family
mill around, some content
others tired, angry, grieved
and all somber
on this day of Ramadan...

How do you motivate yourself to do what you need/want to do while depressed/not feeling like doing “work”?

Depression for me = having trouble taking a shower and doing anything other than taking care of my children and reading, playing on computer, watching TV, etc. Please serious responses only – I’m not lazy and not making excuses, just wanting to learn how others get through this. Yes, I have had/am having therapy, am sometimes on meds when advised to do so and can afford it…no, nothing has worked long-term so far. So how do you accomplish more when you’re in this kind of spot? Creativity and/or unusual “solutions” much appreciated.
