I have a 4 year old external hard drive that just started acting up. When I start it up, Windows XP appears to recognize it and sometimes I can see it in "Disk Management." However I can not get on the hard drive as "My Computer" doesn't show it as a drive and I can't locate it by entering it in the search bar of Windows Explorer. Once in maybe every 20 tries it will work, but only for a couple minutes. It sounds like it's running ok, but it rarely shows up as a drive in "My Computer." I'm wondering if my computer or the hard drive has a virus. Or maybe the hard drive is dieing. I have tried adding it as a slave drive in a desktop computer with the same results. Any ideas?

I regularly use the free versions of AVG antivirus, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Lavasoft Adaware.

its a painting of a man and a woman and they're on their balcony and the eiffel tower is in the backround. Its a newer painting but i dont know who the artist is so im not sure how to find it. I saw it in a store once and fell in love with it, but now the store is shut down and i have no way of finding out what the store was called. I tried searching on google images and yahoo images but i cant find it because if i make my search too specific then the computer wont find anything. But if i make my search less specific then the computer will pull up a million paintings and none of them will be the one im looking for. What should i do?

I have two daughters, 2 mon. and 20 mon. My older daughter likes to dance and swim, so I enrolled her ballett and swimming. She loved both classes and the instructors were nice in both classes expecially in swimming.

My daughter recently got tubes put in her ears and needs to have theese special ear plugs in her ears when she goes swimming and is very allergic to strawberries. Well when I told the swimming instructor since they give out snacks after lessons what she was allergic to and told her about the ear plugs, she nodded.

I come back to her swimming lesson to pick her up and I see my daughter eating strawberries! I grabbed her hand, made her spit out the strawberry she had in her mouth and marched up to the instructor. I said "Why was Lily eating strawberries!! I told you she was highly allergic."

The instructor's response? "Oh you were just making that up."

If there was an afterlife, and if there wasn't a judgement based on merit in that afterlife, would any of you feel short-changed because everyone got through on an even level? Or would you be happy that people escaped condemnation?


I can only talk from speculation, but if I were in a position where I sacrificed, toiled, and put my rewards in heaven, I think I'd be a little annoyed if I got there and everybody had the same rewards.

Here goes the question again. , For the sake of illustrating the impact we are having on the planet, What I would like to know is, based on the number of ALL vehicles worldwide that burn petroleum based fuel, including cars, ships, equipment, planes, etc PLUS smokestacks from factories, power plants, etc, what would be the cumulative size of all of these exhaust pipes, represented as one huge pipe. Also we could, with some more difficulty figure out an average of how many of these engines are running at any given time and just calculate the diameter of that imaginary exhaust pipe, spewing out pollutants. The physics handbook http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2001/MarinaStasenko.shtml lists one figure of 600 million cars worldwide. At an estimated average exhaust diameter of 1.5 inches, times that figure, the imaginary tailpipe of just vehicles alone would be 14,000 miles across? (I must be figuring this wrong!!!) Please help! Thanks
