Animated gifs are like movies. To animate a gif you have to draw each "frame" of the animation just as it you were creating a movie or cartoon. Then you need a gif animation software to convert all of the "frames" into a "movie". I like the Gif Animator that is included in Jasc Software's PaintShop program. If you do a search at http://download.com you will probably find a simple free gif animator that you can start with to learn the basics. Then you can decide if you want to spend the money for a "real" gif animation program.
