I haven't smoked for years, but I did when I was a teenager. My dad caught me one day, and accepted it immediately. He didn't like it, but maybe he sympathized because he was a smoker, too. He said that if he didn't just let me do it, he'd never see me, because I'd always be off sneaking a cigarette somewhere, whether it be in the woods behind our house or in the bathroom, hanging out the window. No parent wants their child to do something that's bad for them, but some parents recognize that you have to let children make decisions for themselves. You can't control your children forever, and there comes a time when you have to accept what they do, or risk losing their affection. My dad also started buying me cigarettes, as long as I didn't go through more than two packs a week. I had to make them last. This probably wasn't the best thing for him to do, but I suppose that was his way of enforcing at least some boundaries on me. Plus, he said that I didn't need to be spending all of my hard earned babysitting money on cigarettes.

how old are you first of all.. and you can't really "make" anybody change their mind..
smoking really has no benefits (i am also a smoker). Why would you wanna smoke anyways? i can understand that you already do though..
the only way you could even attemp is to tell him everything. that you've smoked for a while and that you're addicted (if you are) and ask him. otherwise you have no chance. especially if he's your dad, parents are really protective and sometimes over protective of their children.

I was smoking too, and wished my parents to know. When my mom found out instead of relief i felt worst, cause she was ok. Just told me i do bad to my health, teeth, lungs etc.
Then i quited smoke because of pregnancy, and i felt that i started living again.
Better health, more beauty, less expenses....
Your dad is doing this for your health. Why are you doing it to yourself?
I know addiction, but try quit it before it's too late.

If he cares about you he won't "allow" you to do something that will kill you. Why would he allow you do do something so dangerous?
If you choose to smoke, that's your business. But don't expect everyone else to be ok with it.
You also need to be a little more concerned with your writing skills- smoking's not your biggest problem.

He's your parent. I don't think they're ever really going to condone you smoking. Are you old enough to smoke? If not you might just wait until you're legally able to and then just wait for your dad to accept it.

Well I went through the same problems at home, I started smoking when I was 14 and my parents didn't like it but got used to it because they realized that I knew the consequences of smoking and I knew it wasn't good for me and that there wasn't anything they could do to stop me.

why don't you just get a clue and stop smoking, its so stupid to get addicted to something so deadly. Whatever I guess I cant stop you from being a retard. He wont allow you to smoke until your 18 and even then if he is smart he will continue to give you a hard time, I'm sure he doesn't want to bury his daughter.

Explain to him patiently that by purchasing cigarettes you are in fact helping the economy and supporting corporations that have unfair taxes and regulations forced against them by liberal "think tanks" that want to police everyone's behavior and control what people do and how they spend their money. Whew.

Smoking is one of the most unattractive things a girl can do. It is also very unhealthy and it smells terrible.
