We are thinking about buying this beautiful Victorian home. We can pay for it outright but it needs some work. It has a new roof but needs a new paint job which is mucho work. The mechanicals are updated but the interior is ugly. Wallpaper needs to be torn off, carpet removed, floors refinished, ect.... The "bones" of the house seem in good shape. It just needs some good old fashioned elbow grease. The sellers are asking 135,000 for the house which I think is very reasonable, even with the work that needs to be done. I have always admired this home when I walked by it. What do you think?

I would never sentence someone to eternal torture for petty misdemeanors. It's even more unjust if they had no understanding of how what they did was wrong.

I don't think I would even inflict eternal torture on a serious felon. If I had the power, I would simply erase them from existence.

A good friend of mine is sharing the phone bill with me and he's always paid on time in full. Well, twice in the last couple months his phone as been "stolen". He filed claims with the police and work (one was stolen at work) and now i have the phone bill in my hand and several numbers appear he claims to know nothing about not to mention $50 worth of downloads. I called 2 of the numbers and these ppl do know him. I need to find out if he's lying and if he is why would he have filed claims paying $140 out of his pocket? I'm talking to the company tomorrow to get the charges taken off the bill but has anyone else ever had this happen? Is it a form of fraud? if he claimed it stolen it would be shut off. I'm just trying to figure the best way to handle it. Any suggestions?

My husband works for a pivate electrical company(wireing houses and such). He doesnt have his license, so i guess you could consider him an apprentice. The issue is effecting the whole company, not just him. The owner has put GPS systems in all of the work vans, he can see how long it takes them to drive to a work site, how long the van idols, if they are speeding, if they take a longer route than nessesary. And on top of that the owner isn't going to pay them for the drive to the job site anymore. This means, he has to be at the shop at 7am, if it takes them an hour to get to a job site, thats an hour that he isnt going to get paid. Is this legal? And, if they are not getting paid are they considered "at work" will they be covered under the comanys auto insurance if they aren't "at work"?
Thanks for your help!!

I'm tempted to ask Why? but my question is : many of you seem to think the answer to all the world's conflicts is 'nuke 'em' .

Has anyone actually explained to you the workings of a nuclear bomb? Are you imagining that it works like a neat little bundle of death only targeting the 'bad people' and leaving the rest smelling of roses? Because I don't think it does work like that you know.

We can't just nuke the rest of the world as most of you want to.

I think we need to get nukes out of the hands of conservatives before they destroy the U.S.

their obligation to spread the word on some level--right? Most atheists claim people can believe whatever they want as long as no one tries to "push" their beliefs on them--follow me? Why is it then, 9 out of 10 times this debate comes up-- it's an atheist attempting to "push" his/her belief on Christians? Is this Bizarre-O world or what in here???? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

This is not an attack on either party per say-- it's just an observation about the interaction of both sides-- BOTH of which I think misbehave in this place.

As a Christian I am often accused of arrogance for speaking the truth, but if I sincerely believe that my words or actions are motivated by a love of the truth, a sincere desire to help someone, a spirit led defense of righteousness and truth, a wise plan of setting brushfires in men's minds, a valuable attempt to awaken and relieve the afflicted... AND... if I am not motivated by selfish desires, anger, pettiness, revenge, pride, etc., then I can be assured that I am on the right side of the line between truth and arrogance.

I have learned that in speaking Truth the charge of arrogance is a certainty, because one thing this world cannot stand is someone who is both (a) assured, and (b) correct. The world will accept your word if you are unsure, or if you are incorrect, or if you allow for some other solution, or if you are willing to compromise with untruth.

So anytime you are both right and sure you are right, then you will be charged at some level with arrogance.
