A good friend of mine is sharing the phone bill with me and he's always paid on time in full. Well, twice in the last couple months his phone as been "stolen". He filed claims with the police and work (one was stolen at work) and now i have the phone bill in my hand and several numbers appear he claims to know nothing about not to mention $50 worth of downloads. I called 2 of the numbers and these ppl do know him. I need to find out if he's lying and if he is why would he have filed claims paying $140 out of his pocket? I'm talking to the company tomorrow to get the charges taken off the bill but has anyone else ever had this happen? Is it a form of fraud? if he claimed it stolen it would be shut off. I'm just trying to figure the best way to handle it. Any suggestions?

The reason We have a phone together is because we're sharing the costs. He's in college and i brought up the idea of sharing a phone. I couldnt handle the cost by myself so he agreed to go half with me. like i said he's always paid his half I just dont know why he's doing this now. I've no reason to not trust him and thats why he's coming over today to get it all figured out. he was doing me a favor when he signed up with me. I wouldnt trust anyone else. But now I'm having this issue so we're gonna talk it out and get it straightened out.

found out today the charges that were made were not 2 hours after the phone was stolen. He was at work in the same building I was, i know he didnt make these charges now i need to find out if the phone company will drop them cuz i am not paying for what someone else did. I shouldnt be liable and neither should he, he filed a police report both times it was stolen..

what are you sharing a "cell phone bill"?
I could see a home phone, but if it's a cell phone, make him get his own!!!

When money is involved - treat it like a business. If you're having trouble with his side of the equation - cut off his phone. It's worth it for you to pay a little extra and have your own phone bills and not get caught in someone else's phone bill, utility bill problems.

Of all the people you know - how often does a phone get stolen? Compared to him having happen twice? And the thief calls phone numbers he knows. Interesting.

And even if it's not really a "fake" thing - it is messing with a friendship and what is that worth?

What are you waiting for - to be stuck with something worse? You've got the evidence you need to make your decision.

It doesn't sound right to me. If he is paying the bill then I wouldn't worry about it but if he isn't, then yu may have problems in the future. Think about getting out of this phone deal and let him get his own phone.

make him tell the truth is the first thing and then shut the line down as obviously there are charges that are on there that you are going to find out he did and its your bill

1st off, why do you have to get this grown man a phone? Get he phone turned off and you'll find out how quickly his lie comes to light.

ask them to cancel his phone so you do not need to go through this every couple of months

You called the numbers and they do know him.....by your own words you already know he is lying to you.
