My boyfriend says he HAD a thyroid problem when he was a kid. could this effect our chances of conceving? If so can it be treated or can it get to the point where it leaves him perminately infertal?

This really depends on what problems he had as a child. Underactive or overactive thyroid? Is he still on medication for it?
An underactive thyroid can cause sperm production problems but once you are regulated on the proper dose of medication sperm production returns to normal.

it depends on what type of thyroid problen he had....and like you said he had....he mignt not have anymore, you should takl to your obgyn or family practicioner to see what they think, as there could be easy ways to help you guys conceive, if you could talk to an RE (fertility specialist) or an urology (especialises in fertility for men) and get an opinion that'd be good too, you can ask an RE online for free and see what they think, try www.FertilityTies.com
