I'm aware of the fact that galaxies are in motion, but why is it that we don't see them as moving? As in you look through a telescope, find a galaxy, and it looks like its just sitting there. (note: i've never actually seen a galaxy through a telescope, ARE they actually moving when you look at them? i'm almost certain there not, but I don't want to sound like an idiot if i'm wrong on the whole thing.)

and since our galaxy is in motion, why doesn't our view of "extragalactic" objects change as our system moves and changes position through the milky way?

do notice. I know from a previous question that most of you won't understand what I am saying. Let me try to clarify it by the story of a mother who had to answer a question from her white son about what a black person was. She answered, "Well, your friend Johnny is black". "He is not", her son replied.
You see, little children are usually color-blind until someone teaches them otherwise. And perhaps 0.1% of adults are color-blind, while the rest of us are racists, even though some of us won't admit it, and some of us try to redefine what a racist is.

I recently answered a question with this but I think it deserves it's own spot for proper focus.

A minimum wage job pays about 13k annually (before taxes) IF they get a full 40. So after taxes they have about 900-980 a month depending on filing status and children.

The cheapest apartment I could find locally was a 2 room efficiency for $375 a month (note not a 2-bed, a 2-ROOM)

food will cost at least $100 person per month

Utilities would be cheaper for a small apartment so lets say $150 for electric & heat. $20 for water.

If you have a job you'll need a car so $200 for a car payment and $30 for insurance throw in $40 for gas

$25 for a phone (cheap for a landline)

let's see I've covered rent, utilities, food and transportation what's left? Oh clothes, toiletries, cleaning supplies and other little things, hmm.... we'll go cheap here to and say $20 a month.

What do we have so far .... $960 a month to live in a 2 room hovel and eat raman noodles on a regular basis.

Dave stared at the man standing opposite him. He was tall and menacing, with wiry hair, and flashing eyes. An unspeakable fear coursed through Dave. He tried to speak, but all he could do was whisper. He trembled, his hands shaking fearfully. The man did not speak, did not move, only stared at him. As if he could see past his face, his body, and deep inside of him.

Dave started, then sat up in bed. He hated the nightmares he'd been having lately. He hated the way the man seemed to follow him, terrorizing not only his dreams, but his job, his bike rides, when he took Lorraine, his girlfriend, out for a movie. "I guess I should let go of these dreams," Dave said to himself. Then he laughed. "What am I, crazy? I'm talking to myself like a lunatic!" He rose from his bed to get ready for work. Later, when he was enjoying a break from fixing cars, Dave sat on a bench in the mechanic shop and sighed. He was exhaused from the morning's work. It was a clear spring day and the shop had been

Last week, i bought my green snake from a petstore and a worker there told me to feed it small crickets....but the manager told me to feed it fish ( i forget which kind). Feeding fish is more comfortable for me, but if crickets are better than fish, i guess ill go with em. also, the worker said that i should feed it once a week.... does that sound kinda weird, or is it just me? ONCE A WEEK!? ,,, anyways, i hope you guys give good advice,,,:]

My 4 year old son used a toy to break a window, I was getting the whole family 's lunch. I dropped lunch and as I was running towards him (I heard the window break) he tried to stick his hand through the window, I was yelling "NO NO that will cut you and hurt you" and I got to him right before he would have cut his wrists trying to get into the window. He was trying to save a spider. Yes, I yelled and I swatted him on the butt 1 time through his clothing. My mother-in-law is saying to everyone who will listen that I screamed at my son & beat him; which is not true. I swatted him on the butt and he lost bike riding and other priveledges for the next three days.

How would you handle the nosey mother-in-law?

Matthew 17:11-13
"Jesus replied, "to be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands." Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.

According to this verse, John the Baptist is the reincarnation of Elijah, and yet Jesus promised that Elijah would come in the future and "restore all things". That said, He is talking about reincarnation clearly, and admiting not only one, not only two, but several lives.

What do you think?

These are my choices,
Jon Stewart (Might be taking over Conan)
Dat Phan
Andy Samberg
Jason Sudeikis
Kenan Thompson
Amy Poehler (not to sure but would they let a woman do the show?)
Jimmy Kimmel

And I think Craig Ferguson should take over Kimmel if Kimmel gets Letterman's spot and if that happens maybe Carson would take over Ferguson or Conan but I think Carson sucks.

OK so most of you who saw that question would have thought the lady asking it was referring too god as in christian god (judging by your answers)
When in fact she meant to say Mr. einstein believed there was a God just not one of any religion.

So i ask the same question just cleared up a little bit.
(Without referring to any God of any religion)
If Albert Einstein believed there was a God, what makes you say there isn't?
What makes you believe you are smarter than Albert Einstein?

I have a new bee in the garden this summer on my sunflowers. It's solid, shiny black, roughly the size/shape of a honey bee, and definitely a pollen gatherer. It doesn't have ANY striping whatsoever. It has pollen carrying sacs on it's hind legs, which to me indicate some kind of honey producing bee. Does anyone have any idea what type it is?

It is easy to go to an airline site and find out what passenger ID is accepted by the airline. However, BWI passenger ID checks are now done by TSA, and I cannot find a URL that lists everything they will and will not accept. My Iraqi friend's passport series has been cancelled, and he has not yet been able to get a new passport from Baghdad. Because of this, he also does not have a US driver's licence. He has an Iraqi drivers's license and a US college ID, along with his old I-20 and student visa (in the old passport). He has an application for asylum and a credit card. What else will the TSA folks view as credible ID so he can accompany my on a flight between Baltimore and Boise?
