So me and my friend made this bet.. he got a job recently at Mcdonalds and i bet him 10 dollars that he was going to get fired...(he got fired from his last job as well) so anyways Mcdonalds does this thing where they put you on what they like to call "probation" where u work for like a couple months and get paid the minimum and after that timespan they get to chose whether they want to keep you and if they dont want to keep you they "release you".. so anyways my friend did that and in the end they decided not to keep him... so then he comes uup to me and says "Hey i won the bet becuase technically i didnt get fired.. they released me which is way different" that is his logic... so now i need ure help.. Who wins the bet, me or him,... and why plz?? thnx alot

That is a normal process of employment. 30 or 90 day probation where one is let go for not being suited to the job for one reason or another. However, most places dont use the policy. Agree to allow him to keep his confidence in himself. And call the bet off for the sake of one's personal opinion. IOW agree to disagree.
"fired, laid off, released, discharged, dismissed"....all mean the same thing to me.
