Let me try to clarify it by the story of a mother who had to answer a question from her white son about what a black person was. She answered, "Well, your friend Johnny is black". "He is not", her son replied.
You see, little children are usually color-blind until someone teaches them otherwise. And perhaps 0.1% of adults are color-blind, while the rest of us are racists, even though some of us won't admit it, and some of us try to redefine what a racist is.
