Let me try to clarify it by the story of a mother who had to answer a question from her white son about what a black person was. She answered, "Well, your friend Johnny is black". "He is not", her son replied.
You see, little children are usually color-blind until someone teaches them otherwise. And perhaps 0.1% of adults are color-blind, while the rest of us are racists, even though some of us won't admit it, and some of us try to redefine what a racist is.

Are you trying to convince yourself?

I grew up among the Amish, and they don't recognize color at all. To them, it is either good country people, or the devils who live in the city. They can tell you all about a car someone was driving, or their cellphone, or other citified attributes, but darned if they can remember if the person was black, white, or asian.

I know lots of people who are not hung up on color, and don't organize their lives that way.

Find some better people to hang around with, and maybe you can change your views.
