i already have the XP,motherboard,monitor,printer but that's all i got.

can i get my internet connection back?

That depends on how you connect to the internet. You need to make sure you have your modem driver or ethernet card driver, Once if have that you can get any programs or drivers you missed. If you are using WinXP, I would make sure I had Service Pack 2 ready to install. There are some nasty self-propagating viruses out there that could infect your computer within a couple of minutes of connecting to the internet if certain exploits aren't fixed.

Saving the drivers is really only necessary if you installed hardware that wasnt on the computer when you bought it. if you do, keep the video, sound, and wireless internet (if you have a wireless adapter) drivers, but they should already come with an installation disk.

The easiest one to forget (I did when reformatting) is your email address book. What a pain that is to reconstruct.
