I was 17 years old, and a friend invited me to see the Jimi Hendricks Experience! I know it was in the summer of 1967, but not sure of the exact date.

I had never heard of him, so I went out of curiosity.

Living in a NYC suburb in NJ (worked in a berg called Maywood, NJ in cancer research for Chas. Pfizer. Had one son (1964), and a beautiful wife, drove a 1967 Plymouth VIP (I loved that car..or should I say Liner, for that is how big cars used to be), and was thinking about returning to college for an advanced degree...life was NOT simple then....money was always a problem (can any of us say differently?) but we were happy (I think). I am 66....then, the thought of being an OLD 66 was funny, and in fact, a year or so later, the Beatles came out with "When I'm 64." I had no way to relate to 64, other than a number, and figured..."what's the big deal about being 64?" Well, let me tell you, dear, If I had known about aches and pains, headaches that don't end, etc....I would have taken far better care of myself..that is for sure. But, even with sloppy care, I have made it this far, and, looking at it another way, my grandmother WAS old at 64! My mother was not..and we are not..in fact, we are much younger than my mother's generation, age for age, but then, she and my dad were always young at heart....I was lucky to have inherited that trait..thanks, Mom....I miss you terribly.

I was 20 years old, just left nursing school and was working at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago as a secretary.

I lived at home with my parents, took public transportation and did not yet have a steady boyfriend.

I don't remember being too happy then, but enjoyed the great music.

I was 15 and probably getting ready to start a new school year. My family was still intact and we had a little white dog named Bouncer he was roughly 10 years old. I had been working for a year on weekends at a nearby World Methodist Assembly. Seems like so long ago now.

I was most likely out looking for a reliable used car to make my first visit back home to Virginia after living seven years in Los Angeles.

Well, that one is easy...

I was getting ready to enter my Senior year in high school. And the whole country (Canada) was doing non-stop partying because of our Centennial!!

And on this particular date, August 20th, we were celebrating my Dad's 55th birthday! We had his whole family over for the event, including his Mom who was doing poorly at the time (she died just two months later) and there was so much family present that the kids spilled outside to play and catch up with our lives. (We normally didn't see a lot of my Dad's family, except at holidays.) I got to decide that I absolutely HATED my cousin Norah who made stuck up look friendly. And I also got to decide that my cousin Gary was turning into a serious hunk, and lament the laws on first cousins dating.
