This is just confusing the hell out of me. I have literally read 10 posts in just the last 30 minutes in which non-Americans claim to know exactly what Americans are like and exactly what we do, and exactly what we think. I am even speaking of non-Americans who have never visited America! It is ridiculous. I'm pretty shocked by it, actually.

I would never presume to know what people from other nationalities think and feel. I would never presume to know what they hold dear to them. I would never presume to know their values. It is a shame that so many people like to "rag" on Americans for really, no good reason at all. It's just stereotypes. I don't buy into stereotypes. It's ignorant to do so... and I'm not ignorant, contrary to what most people seem to think on this forum (since I'm an American). :-(

one of my favorites, but i've lost track of the source.it's not the bible, i'm pretty sure it isn't shakespeare. i'm a fan of fantasy ficton, but i'm thinking that this comes from something more, well, normal.... there is more to it, i think, it may even be a whole paragraph or two. i think it comes from something i've read often, and really enjoyed, but i've been searching for weeks and can't find it. well i hit another car and killed the drive. yes i was buzzing. well Im absolutely beside myself with causing someone,plus i totalled my ex wifes car which wasnt insured. I have been an alcholis/drug addict forabout15 years. I cant even close my eyes without reliving the crash. Now I know Im a piece of crap waste of human flesh so dont remind. I wanna die but not go to hell, any advice

Alright, so it happens all the time. At school, work, the mall, even stupid places like...idk, Wal*Mart. I'll walk in and people look at me oddly. Girls just give me this weird blank stare and Guys look like they wanna fight me. I'm not odd looking, i'm clean, and i'm well built. So freakin weird though...whys it happen? i have 3siblings and they dont listen, i have2constantly tell them2 do things, i do everything i can think of to discipline them, i yell at themtake there toys,books,games away from them i tell them stay in there roomi have tried everything under the sun,i feel as though they dont even listen to my paretns. we tell them to do somethingthey tell us "no", "i dont want to do it."..."i didnt do it he did it/she did it." and they say "why dont u do it."its constantly an on going battle with these disrespectful children. i dont know how to get them2listen.it stresses me out 'cause im not the one that takes disrespect lightly. as hard as the world is we have to deal with this in our own homes. i dont understand.what can i do? i have tried EVERYTHING! someone please help. they talk back all the time2. i shouldnt even b stressing myself out because these are not my children 2raise but when i babysit i would like some respect.

i am 17 and i just found out im pregnant...i kno ur gonna say i shouldnt have been having sex...but it wasnt consensual. i am terrified!!! i am against abortion and giving the baby up 4 adoption. my parents kicked me out...they didnt believe the sex wasnt consensual. i am currently staying with a teacher i have known basically my entire life.

The one I'd like to see disappear is "hammering out a deal." Whenever any kind of negotiation happens, the two sides are described as "hammering out a deal." Whatever happened to "negotiating" and "have come to an agreement"?

i'm going down to the keys for ten days tomorrow. to babysit and other stuff. we're supposed to be catching lobsters. but i just read in a magazine a little bit ago that lobster season is over.lol. but thats not the point. i want to know a good way to write some poems when i'm there. i'm stumped right now. i've been stumped for the past few days. maybe if i get bit by a shark i could write about that.lol. any ideas???? for some reason i have a feeling i won't get to many ideas while i'm there. i feel like a fool.
