If one is totally for animal rights, then they respect all life no matter big or small that animal is, no matter what its age is, no matter what thier perceived economic value is.

A cute kitten deserves to live as much as a lizard, or a goat, or a sea urchin - or even a human!

And eating veal is no worse than eating the meat from an adult cow. Because age is no factor in the right to live.

Well, isn't a fetus just a less developed, youger version of a human? Its a smaller human, only its limited in its abilities. Here in tge good old USA you always have rights, no matter where you are or who you are. So even in the womb you should have rights.

I compare the two issues because both are about respecting all lifeforms at all time.

So why is it that liberals tend to be pro-choice? And many of these same liberally minded people would want to gaurentee rights for seals and otters?

What do you think?

This is an honest question, not meant to offend.

I am of basically a nature based spirituality. I love reading stories of different gods, whether Greco-Roman, Norse, Sioux, African, whatever. They have great meaning to me as metaphors. However I do not literally believe thunder gods to be sentient beings, merely a representation of the power of the universe in the sense that thunder represents many things. I use these stories to answer hard ethical questions, to learn to be empathetic, to realize I am only a very small part of things.

I understand how the stories in the Bible can help people with moral issues, personify energies that make us feel safe and protected, to give us strength to make our lives better. I have seen Christianity affect people this way.

What I don't understand is how you believe God is literally Jesus, that Christians will literally be lifted and ascended to heaven, that Jesus in flesh will return. And why are those beliefs necessary in Christianity?

I am 15 ½ years old. During 1st - 7th grade I was harassed and bullied. After 7th grade my parents sent me to a nearby school. Because of all that I went trough, it was hard for me to handle my anger. At the age of 10 I started biting myself. On March 25th of 2007, I cut myself. I am not sure why I did, but it was like an impulse. Then, about 3 ½ weeks b4 school ended, I cut myself again. The first time I told my best friend (who is going to be a Senior) b/c I thought she would understand b/c she used to cut. The second time, I did tell her and I knew that she was disappointed in me and she told me that she hates to see me like this and that I need to tell someone soon. This really scared me b/c I did not feel like I could tell my parents. At the beginning of 8th grade, I thought that I might be bisexual, then at the beginning of 8th grade, I thought that I might be bisexual, then at the beginning of high school I realized and accepted the fact that I was. And not to long ago I found

I grew up basically watching my mom and Dad constantly bickering. Its interfered with the way i think and now react to certain situations. The last time they fought, he was going to hit her...I heard her screaming, so i got up and went to the room. there he was over her, i g ot really mad...memories just started pouring in..So i yelled at him. (he used to hit me, but few years ago, i grew up. And i just didn't look vulnerbale). So anyways i yelled at him, i told him if he ever touced her again, i will kill him. He never did touch her, or even argue. Perhaps he woke up.

But since that day, i have no feelings for him..i never really saw him as a "father". we don't speak. i just pass straight without saying anything. It hurts not reallly having a connnection, lke sometimes you just need a bond like that...but there could never be anything there.

My mom is like, he works hard, he is your father..talk to him.
But, i dont know how. Its like, in my mind....i took him out

For all you young thespians out there, does anyone know who wrote a fabulous duet acting piece entitled, "Down Came the Rain?" It is a great play starring two men: a mentally challenged boy and his older, reluctant brother. The song, "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" is an important part of the play. I am trying to order this book from Inter-Library Loan at my university, but I have to know the author. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Best,
K.
