Isn't the purpose of language communication? how can you communicate with people who speak a different language? think about a medical emergency when no translator is present, or if police have to try to help someone who is speaking a different language but cannot understand what he needs?

I know this is probably going to get me different answers since everyone has a different (ethical, moral) stand point... But my fiancee wants to name our baby Alexia... I have always loved Alexia. The problem that I personally find is that a few years ago he was previously supposed to have a baby girl with his ex girlfriend, she tried killing herself and in the process killed their baby. They named her Alexia.

Is it wrong for me to think that maybe its not such a good idea to name the baby this? I don't want to feel like this is a replacement baby... I dunno i just don't like the idea of giving the name to our baby ( EVEN tho I love it). And there's always a chance i could be having a BOY!!! guess I'm overstressing it... What do you think?

I watched a show on Oprah, and I understood that engery is still used. They recommended using something called a smart strip which you would plug your cords in and then turn everything off with one switch. Is this any different than a normal power strip?

I am not gender obsessed or anti-men. I like men. This is not a sexist opinion, merely an observation and I'm asking if you agree or disagree, and why.

Recently I asked 7 questions on the R & S site, looking for positive, uplifting thoughts and experiences. I got some mathematicians to work out the percentages and ratios and these are the results:

Out of 132 answers, 66 were men and 66 were women.
45.45% of men were negative and 54.54% were positive.
18.8% of women were negative and 81.8% of women were positive.
The negative to positive ratio is 5:6 for men and 2:9 for women.

Is this typical? Or do you have evidence to the contrary?

Im currently driving a 2000 ford explorer with over 110000 miles on it. I was looking to trade it in for something with better gas mileage and hopfully around half the miles. I found a 2002 Kia Rio with 57000 miles. I was wondering your experience with Kias...I have never known anyone to own one and so I need some advice. Thank you

I am a mother of 4 kids. Son-9, Son-6, stepdaugter-4 (My husband and I have custody of her,she sees mother supervised everyother week), and son-2. I used to be a "push-over mom" when it was just me and my older 2 boys, but when I met my husband we got pregnant and then he got custody of his daughter, I was determined to set rules and follow through. I am a stay at home mom. Husband works ALL the time out of town. I hear myself saying "do this" , "don't do that". Don't get me wrong the kids are GREAT!! We get compliments on their good behavior. But I am sooooo sick of telling them to do this and not that...HOW CAN I GET THEM TO MIND? I feel bad for taking EVERYTHING away (like Dr. Phil says) and spanking doesn't work,it seems as if my daugter could sit in her room for a week and do nothing. It's like no punishment works. How long should I take privileges away or make them sit in their room? PLEASE HELP can I get a step-by-step guide of what to do 1st :) How can I let go?
