Further than the end of my street - Average distance from earth during it's orbit is around 384,400 km

If you were to walk the distance, yes it would be far, but before you start , make sure that you have at least 1,000 pairs of shoes.
But astronomically speaking, no . It is real close.
And the moon is roughly 230,000 miles away
