Hypothyroidism in itself, if left untreated for long time can be dangerous but, fortunately looks like you have been diagnosed and so there is not a great deal to worry about.
You need to start Thyroxine hormone which is adjusted according to your blood tests for thyroid. About 5 % of adult population suffer from thyroid problems, so you are not alone.
More importantly, if in UK, people on treatment for thyroid problems are entitled to FREE Prescriptions.

Nope it is a common endocrine condition easily managed by taking regular levothyroxine. This will need to be continued for life but will mean you will be absolutely normal.
