I live in Sacramento, CA, where the temperature often reaches 95°+ in May, and continues to rise to upwards of 105° (and as high as 114°) until September. Would a portable air conditioner be appropriate for the climate here? Would it keep my dog and child cool enough in the summer months? A standard a/c will not fit in my window, so if I got one, my landlord would have to cut a hole in the wall to mount it, so when I moved out, I'd be forfeiting it!

It seems to be one thing after another these days. He is getting too strict because he says I am a little too spoiled. My friend's crackpot mom told him to be much stricter with me. I am not going to say how but my older brother thinks that it's funny.

What can I do about a grumpy daddy who has been brainwashed by my friend's zealot mom?

I am 16, he is the only parent I have, and it's getting ridiculous.
