My daughter has been driving for a few years now and is a very good driver. She handles herself well in town, Chicago toll roads, long trips on interstate, etc. We have no concerns with her driving her 3 younger siblings around. We are at a point where she really needs her own car. She works part time is able to help each month with the cost of a car and insurance (she can help with $150- $200 a month) We like the size, safety factors, and MPG ratings of the 07' Volkswagon Jettas ($20,000). The Jettas seem to hold their value. We are torn between a new one for her (pts. being: lower interest rate, we know how car will be cared for from the start, full warranty, car will carry her thru college and first job) OR a used car with low mileage and a little warranty left on it (how do I know previous owner has taken care of car/is honest about it). The used Jettas that are 2 & 3 yrs. old still sell for at least $15,000.00 & have a higher interest rate. Help me think this thru, NEW/OLD?

My sister is working for a doctor p/t and earning approx. £1400 per month. He does not pay tax or N.I. contributions and says she should register as self employed. She hasn't done this as she cannot see how the inland revenue will find out. Is she right or is she taking a huge risk??
P.S. She says that the revenue are overstretched and would only find out if someone tipped them off. Again is this correct?
Thanks for any help - Worrier

OK, this is driving me mad! I read this book & now I can't remember the title, from this description can anyone tell me who wrote it?

A young boy living in South East England in the 1950s/60s lives with his mother and after witnessing a man drowning in the sea (he was in a rowing boat with two children) he befriends a fisherman who teaches him the ways of the sea. His mother isn't very nice and his father is out of the picture although he has a step-father and brother and sister who aren't that nice to him. His brother then gets sent away to school, the boy then moves with his mother to another town nearby and his grandmother, who is going blind moves in with them. The boy also befriends a young girl who is interested in nature and the boy learns all the names of flowers and plants. He also gets sent away to school and the master isn't very nice but he has a nice English teacher. There's also a sub-story about his brother's abuse. I think it's partly autobiographical too. Please help!

I have a very good friend and her 10 year old is out of control to the point no one wants them around, the child has adhd but absolutly no manners. They never correct bad behavior! Do I just tell them our concerns for this childs future? I have raised my children already. I would think they would take my advise!
I am concerned that they will take it the wrong way. And when I say no manners, this child can be scary sometimes, help!

Like why can't we use correct words and phrases? I've noticed in this one message board site I go to you can use slang phrases but you can't use the "graphic/correct" terms. And growing up I rarely heard people use the correct terms, I mostly learned the correct terms in sex ed. And I noticed in this generations I'm learning from the past generation some new slang words and phrases for sexual acts that I never heard of before. LOL, I had my own words.

That Al Sharpton should be fired ? Tons of racial comments from him .
How about Jessie Jackson ? I don't know if he has a show, but would you ever want him invited to speak on one of your favorite shows or networks ?

How about Rosie O'Donnell ? GEESH. . Need I say anymore than her name on this issue ?

The new procedure of throwing tourists in jail if they get a minor speeding ticket until they have checked if your valid passport is really valid, sound way over the top. Is it safer to go to Iraq?

I had thought that I would find this question previously asked, with many answers.(I didn't; it wasn't) I'm wondering what people think. I suppose it depends a lot on ones definition of Christianity. I'll post this question under "religion" I wonder if answers would be very different if I put it under "military.

Don't get me wrong, I find her very attractive. She's slim and beautiful. Maybe her slimness has something to do with it, I don't know. Or is it because I really care about her and don't regard her as just a sex object. I don't know. Any expert suggestions?

By the way, we've been together for three years.

If global warming is caused by auto pollution. Why are we not getting better gas mileage on our cars?
We can send a robot car to mars and drive it by remote control. Send a probe to somewhere else. And we cannot get more than 20 mpg out of a car motor? We can fit a computer chip on the head of a pin but still no better motor. Who's lying to who?

I hear people say that a lot, and it seems to me to mean that they DO care, at least somewhat. The correct way, to say that you could not possibly care any less than you already do, is "I COULDN'T care less." So anyhoo, my question is, does it irk you to hear people say "I could care less" ? It does me.

We are looking after a stray cat, who is pregnant. She startred to cry and ask for reassurance and then a lot of watery stuff came out just 15 minutes ago. Then she went to this dark place inside the cabinet, where she is hiding and resting. She does not make any noise. Is this normal? How soon should she have contractions? I never had this dilemma before! Help!

One of the alloy wheels, on my car, was mildly dented, when it a pot hole. The tire wheel assembly holds air, and the damage is not readily observable. However, it is sufficient, to keep the wheel out of balance.
