I recently reunited with a former love, and we have enjoyed a renewal of our love, closer than ever...we have been making casual plans about a future together, traveling, retirement together...we talked about going through with the wedding that I called off seven years ago (he got cold feet), we talked about trying to have one child together before we get too old...it seemed like he did most of the planning and the talking, and I was content to listen and smile and dream along with him...until yesterday when I discovered I am pregnant. He got me pregnant the last time we were together, seven years ago, and mourned the baby's loss as I did, but this time, he runs and won't even face me, let alone talk to me.

I am devastated! What is UP with him? Is this cold feet times two? How could he just completely shine me on like this? I am 46, very independent, well-off and gainfully employed, can take care of myself, I don't need anything from him except a little love!

We both like Austin.... but I'm thinking I like Preston more and more each day- My husband is not to sure about Preston. James is the middle name no matter what.

Okay so here's the story.I have been going through some problems and feeling hopeless and unwanted.I asked that the Lord send me a shooting star to let me know that everything will be okay and for me to be able to believe that He will answer my prayers,because I was somewhat skeptical.The first two times I looked out my window asking to see the star I didn't,but then I decided to look again and while I was looking I said,"just to make a wish",and then I said,"oh there's no stars out",a split second later I saw a shooting star and was amazed.I don't want to doubt God but I dont know if i should take it as God answering my prayer or simply a coincidence please tell me your opinions on this I would greatly appreciate it.

I just bought a small 3 lb ham and i thought it would tell u if it was precooked or not and the derections but it didnt and i never made a ham before and i have been looking on the internet and i really havent got to much information. So,what happens ?My mom says that the fridge will start to malfunction because of temperature differences between the hot food and the rest of the fridge , but I think that's just a bunch of BS (excuse the expression ) .I don't really have in-depth knowledge of how fridges work, so can somebody that does tell me if it is safe to put hot food directly in the fridge ?Thanks!

since the theists seem monumentally unable to come up with arguments that are meaningful to us, allow me to play deveil's advocate.
We assert there is no empirical evidence for the existence of God and I am as convinced of this as you are. But isn't there a philosophical a priori to this argument? That the empirical world is THE world and there are no others? And if we can't prove this assertion (and I don't think I can, anyway) then isn't that an "act of faith?"

I'm trying to draw a tree for the sentence "The government seems unable to decide whether to keep the policy" and I am getting hung up at what to call 'whether'. We were told that the sentence had empty categories, which is why I'm thinking 'whether' has to function as a complementizer preceded by an empty DP within the IP 'to keep the policy' but I'm not sure how to break the sentence down to reflect this. I know this is a complicated question but please help me if you can!
