I believe this is more negative than positive, and perpetuates so many 'racist' stereotypes. It implies subliminally that the word and credibility of black people carries no weight, and for me, (being black) is a subtle form of oppression. Furthermore, i feel 'the blanket is so much broader than the bed'. In that this one issue has so many broader implications, most non-blacks would feel it is safer not to even address it, and i would attribute this 'fact' to the 'fact' it is not life from their perspective. I honestly do not think the problem of 'racism' is getting any better, i just think the ways in which it is perpetuated is an evolving machine, which finds an ever increasing number of ways to ensure 'black people' stay oppressed/repressed/depressed. I'm not silly enough to think that everybody is racist, however if there are so few racists, how is it, that it has such a profound effect on so many of the 4-5% of black people that live in this country.
