I believe this is more negative than positive, and perpetuates so many 'racist' stereotypes. It implies subliminally that the word and credibility of black people carries no weight, and for me, (being black) is a subtle form of oppression. Furthermore, i feel 'the blanket is so much broader than the bed'. In that this one issue has so many broader implications, most non-blacks would feel it is safer not to even address it, and i would attribute this 'fact' to the 'fact' it is not life from their perspective. I honestly do not think the problem of 'racism' is getting any better, i just think the ways in which it is perpetuated is an evolving machine, which finds an ever increasing number of ways to ensure 'black people' stay oppressed/repressed/depressed. I'm not silly enough to think that everybody is racist, however if there are so few racists, how is it, that it has such a profound effect on so many of the 4-5% of black people that live in this country.

I recently watched this video online with black people dancing in it. It was amazing at how many people, having the freedom they do online, ranted about "niggers" in the forum. Now, a while ago I had a revelation. I would have been saying the same thing a year or so ago, but I got it wrong. I was prejudice. What I thought was, I really dislike the way black america has become, (forgive me over generalization) gangster, ghettofied, and crazy. I used to say the n word because I combined the sub group into the whole group. I stopped saying it because I know there are plenty of good black law abiding citizen's in America who I respect. I think most of the people you speak of are actually predujce and not racist, they just need to have a revelation like I did.
Why is has such a profound effect on the blacks of America?.... Politicans and insane activists make it an issue constantly.

Sorry to say it buddy but you are a racist yourself. Oh I'm sure you can quote how oppressed the blacks have been and in fact still are, but without Non blacks championing the cause you are stuck well and truly in the mire. I am white and feel genuine sympathy for people who are not, when they are discriminated against because of the colour of their skin. Apart form a few shining stars the majority of us are people of our times and as Dylan sang " the times they are a changing". Give people a chance to do the right thing even if they come from the race you feel most oppressed by. Not all whites are the oppressers.

Personally for me it makes you a racist. It implies nothing. Get over yourself! Black people do not need help to keep themselves oppressed/repressed and depressed - people can do it on their own. There is absolutely no reason for anyone not to achieve their dreams. Its not a colour issue - there are far more white under achieving people than black. And the Asian community don't seem to let anything get in their way. The black community is not under achieving because of lack of opportunity - you need to look within to find a solution.

Absolutely Not - what you are feeling is quite natural, for a racist...
The colour of a persons skin should not upset you - if another human being is genuinely committed to assisting with a cause, then it is wrong to feel upset, just because that person does not share the same skin tone.
Another thing with respect to race: Recently (on Radio2) it was said that many Indians view the British as a race of racists - that comment made me laugh, as the the term British is not limited to Whites only...

Maybe it is natural, but I do not agree with your reasoning - mainly because I believe that people should have the right to defend what they believe in regardless of their skin colour. If I believe in a just cause, concerning human rights, I do not see why I should stick to people of my own skin colour. I fact, no offence, but I do see this as a form of racism.
I personally would welcome anyone (black, white or orange) who chooses to side with me on a cause I support.
Now, honestly, will knowing my race change your opinion of what I think?

If white people hadn't championed black causes, blacks would still be using separate bathrooms, drinking out of "whites only" water fountains and sitting at the back of the bus. It took mutual respect and understand for these things to change.

Aren't we allowed to care about our fellow human beings, regardless of the colour of their skin? Are you suggesting that we turn a blind eye and allow the racists to spout their hatred without any comeback?
