No.
A 'World War' would naturally involve most of the nations of the world (as did WWI, and WWII), with combat theaters across the globe.
Any conflict between the US (and perhaps Britain, now) and Iran would stay regional. It would be a bloody mess with a LOT of casualties, most likely (then again, that was predicted with both Afghanistan and Iraq and hasn't come true yet - our military knows their business). The Middle EAST would possibly go up in flames. There's a LOT of oil under that ground and all the nations of the world need access to it.
One thing about our history though is that if we invaded, no nation would be worried about losing access to it - Had the Soviet Union invaded, THAT would be a concern.
Current plans for an assault upon Iran don't include an occupation at all (from what I've seen) - Rather they are intended to simply overthrow the Iranian government and let the chips fall where they may, probably with A-Teams helping the pro-democracy movement to regain control.
Ask yourself this - if we DID attack Iran, how would it go global? If Iran nukes Israel, Israel is simply going to nuke Iran into a glowing pit and both nations will no longer exist. Who else would get involved?
China certainly isn't going to go to war with the US over Iran (Taiwan, maybe, but not Iran). Neither is Russia. As long as they are guaranteed their oil, no one has any national interest in protecting Iran and every nation has a LOT of interest in seeing them destroyed.
It would simply be another case of every other nation on Earth heaving a huge sigh of relief as the United States cleans out a nest of vipers, spending our blood and treasure, while they cluck their tongues and talk about how we are a rogue nation of cowboys.

Have you heard of the Yom Kippur war in 1973, Israel vs a coalition of Arab nations....Egypt, Syria and Jordan. That was worse than the current situation.....it didn't raise a blip on the world war scenario (not that it didn't have the potention as a spark)...just relegated to the heap of regional conflicts between rump states. When the strategic super powers square off into two camps, then come back and we'll talk world war.
Until then, just think regional conflicts, proxy wars, and brinksmanship.... After the next world war, we'll be back into the stone age and you won't have to worry whether a world war occurred or not.
There are currently 40 (+ or -) conflicts in the world right now, but none are between the super powers in open declarations of war.

This really depends on who is allied to Iran. Knowing things as they are, Iran is probably backed by China and if it is then there will be serious problems.
I don't think we will ever see nuclear armageddon. NO ONE is stupid enough to end the world in such a manner and go done in history as the "man who pushed the button"
Wars these days are far more effectivley fought using other means, such as economic sanctions. These can cripple countries and bring them to the brink of economic disaster. In these modern times, economic disaster means just that and can take a country many decades to recover from it.

Yes, not the classical terms of world war but more of a Diaspora attack on indeginous people as seen in US (11/9/2001), Britian (7/7/2005) and India for the last god knows how long. Most countries don't have the technology or the monetary requirements to hold as long term war, the USA being the only exception, and neither do the terrorist. he war we will witness will be father vs son and family vs family type war not Allies vs Axis.

yes china and russia have great investment in IRAN to attack that country would create world war 3 the implications and the people that planned all this are reaching there goals so im not sure this one will be any different , its end game and the implications at home for us the people that the global elites see as cattle is not good , fighting in this up and coming war which will happen with in 5 years. it would be cowardess as to fight in this war because this is not fighting for your country in fact its fighting for big buisness , a minority of elites people that envisage the world looking different as it does today (population reduction).

If the US do what Sam Harris (The End of Faith) advocated and nuked all the Islamist (including Iran), then there should be no 3rd WW. After all, a WW involved a lot of countries fighting. If most of them are nuked, they can't fight back, can they? Let's see if they'll listen to good old uncle Sam.
Gigi's a true patriot, man. She'll see off the saracens and moors.

US cannot do it, once all their war budget is already compromised with Afganisthan and Iraq. If USA barelly can support both invasions, Iran will not be a choice.
Solution would be bring another supporting country to start to fight with Iran. Strongest possibilities are:
Iraq (like happened in 70's) or another country like UK. Probably China and Russia would put a lot of obstacles to avoid this option, but it would not be a war. Not yet.
Of course, another action like Israel did in Lebanon would be a possible trigger. Possible Attack from Israel could do it but there is no interest to nuke biggest Oil reserves in the world.
There is no Jihad yet, once all other countries are supporting recent capitalist investments (Dubai, Qatar, Yemen, etc.) Probably would increase instability on that area and also in Center and NE Africa, but this instability is necessary to avoid organization against a common enemy and also avoid Government organization to capture and control multinational companies (like happened in Bolivia)
III War would start with possible colapse of any big economy (like US - what is already happening with their evergrowing defict and also reducing exchange power of Dolar). This colapse would bring with China (not stable) and south Asia. Africa and south America as usual would fall down and Europe would face lot of problems.... but until now, mostly countries are maanging to handle this possible scenario, changing their lastro from Dolar to Euro.
Of course, possible scenario of colapse also can happen due Weather disruptions (Agropecuary industry).

No. Iran has violated so many UN nuclear proliferation treaties that i cannot see any country supporting it other than maybe Afghanistan or Iraq with whom the US are already engaged in military conflict.
Iran needs to stopped. Its a facist regime hellbent on causing war and disruption.

To gigi...Do you live in a wood cabin with your hand gun and Ak-47 at close hand? Typical Yank answer. I think the world should be more scared of you than of Iran. The Iranians have evrry right to have nuclear power as the next person. The Americans have interfeared too much in world affairs...they were told not to go into Iraq and they did, so how do you say they were invited? Go back to reading your bible you sterotypical american retard!

It's already begun according to many analysists who assert that Islamic Fundamentalists have declared a Jihad against the West.
Even in the UK Moslem windbags are demanding Saria Law, while the Moslem Council of Great Britain accepts funding from the government.
