I know in Massachusetts, just being having the possesion of marijuana you can get fined 100's of thousands of dollars and go to jail for up to 10 years.

if you rape a child you get counciling and only up 5 years in prison.

I was convicted of Drink Driving (DR10) a few weeks ago (1st offence) and I was due to go on holiday to Peru and transit via Newark Airport and spend a few days in New York on the way back. I read on the US embassy website that I now needed a visa (if you have ever been convicted or arressted - even if the arrest didn't lead to a charge) and couldn't use the visa waiver form. So I cancelled the holiday. I am now planning to go in November and I am happy to apply for a visa at the US emabssy, but the police check required for the Embassy appointment takes 40 days and the embassy decision takes another 14. So will i have to go through this process every time I want to go to america on a non-immigrant visa? Or are there other visa types that once I have it, I can travel to the US for multiple entries over a lond period (maybe a few years)? I have read about a waiver of ineligibility - what does this allow and who is it for please? I am British and live in the UK.

when i walk home from school near my house there are three kids around 12-13 years old. and i am 15 these kids call me names while i am walking pass them.they started on me for no reason at all. they insluted me and call me names before and mock me about my hair and every thing. i said i would beat them up if they continue. i have beaten up of them up before. He punched me in the nose and made it bleedand i kinda switched. I don' think of myself as a strong person and i dont wish to beat someone up.but i punched him in his nose and kneed him three times in his gut.

Then it quited down and when i walked pass they didnt say anything.Thats the way i like it. but now they started to inslut me again and when i said i would beat them up they said they would break my nose again.I walked off that day and next time i see them(it's usealy on a thursday) i want to beat them all up and make them shut it for once and for all.

All i want to do is walk home without someone insluting me.

This is v weird I hv a frnd who used to b very busy and used to find hard even to spend talking 5mins to me and she used to show that she is v busy. I was hurt by her attitude bcoz mostly she used to talk to me only abt her problems.. she just wanted my shoulder n ear.. she used to talk to me when she had nothing to do.
I was hurt by this so started avoiding her thinking that she would change but nothing changed. i used to care alot for her and all of a sudden i stopped caring, she noticed that but it seems to hv no affect on her.
We both know that things r not good b/w us but none of us r talking, i want her to come up with a question and clear out things.
bcoz i cant do that. Today we talked abt 2 weeks and i was hurt again bcoz she talked me bcoz she was irritated by others. It really hurts to feel like a time pass.
What should I do? She shows like she wants to b my friend but she doesnt care for me.
please help. Shall i keep avoiding her like again. i feel bad doing that.

I might be generalising, but I think my comment is fair. Yanks seem to think that anyone not from the USA is jealous of them and wants to be like them.

And also, why are there so many of them (yanks) on UK/Ireland Answers?? It's getting annoying!!

the landlord won't re-do my back yard as he dosen't see it as a priority, i'm just wondering if the dust is actually harful to the health of my family. The yard is always covered in dust and i can't sweep it away as it doesn't seem to help apart from making me cough, i also have a drain that my toilet actually feeds into which isnot covered, the hole is about a ft round and just under a foot and a half deep. my children are 8,6 and 2 i'm also wondering if these are grounds to ensure that i get all of my bond money back? as i'm wanting to move out as the repair to the drain was promised to be done within 4weeks on me moving into, my yr contract runs out on the 9th of april,i'm still waiting, so you can do the maths lol

any advice would be grately appreciated cheers xx

I work with my voice, and I absolutely can't get 100% voice rest, so I need to speak and talk. Does that significantly damage the vocal chords, is it temporary/long term damage, or will they be able to heal back with no problems? (I've also just had the flu/cold) I had very serious sounding hoarseness and I voice rested for about 2 days, now my voice is way better, but I can still hear hints of it being hoarse. So again, will singing impair those vocal chords?
