How long are we going to let it go on taunting us from above before scientists get off their lazy asses and do something about it?

There is this guy that i really like. He's super smart, funny, friends with everyone, but still kind of shy. Well he gave me a necklace (really nice, from Rome). After awhile my friends started bugging him about it and asking why, because i kept saying i wanted to know why. He wouldn't answer them. The other day i let my friend Julia see it and i said "It sure is making things strange around here." So she gets up and goes over to the guy, and says, "Lee doesn't feel right keeping this, if you didn't have a reason for giving it to her."
and she gave it back to him.
Ahhh i feel naked without the necklace on!!! Now when i have to talk to him, he won't make eye contact and is really quiet and if he does have to talk to me, he's kind of rude, not himself. Then i see him with his friends and he acts normal.
So what is going on? Should i talk to him? What do i say? I don't want to seem like an idiot because he might now like me. Or does he?

Why is it that people these days have problems accepting homosexuality BUT they only have problems with gay men...NOT lesbians. Why is that? So many people that I have met or spoken to that have problems with gays, only bring up why gay male sex is bad.....they don't say anything about lesbians.
I have a theory. Do you think its because these homophobic cretens like watching lesbian porn? They don't have a problem with it if THEY like it.....but its not okay for gay men to have sex because they say its immoral.
One last question. Do you think homophobes are that way because they are still in the closet, or because they think homosexuality is contagious....or both perhaps?

I read somewhere that in the private sector, there is $1.01 in debt for every $1.00 in assets. This is private sector debt, not government debt. Numbers like that on the balance sheet of any type of business would indicate bankruptcy.
This is pretty much the same situation that lead to the great depression. During the 1920s, middle class America borrowed money on their homes and other assets to invest in the stock market. Many other people bought stock on margin.
All that investing created a bubble. When the bubble burst, those people who purchased with borrowed money lost everything.
Today there is a similar situation. Instead of stocks, however, people are in hock up to their ears on real estate. This too created a real estate bubble, which can burst and drive property values down. When property values fall below the mortgage balances, bank will require more capital investment from the home owner.
With no savings, where will this capital come from? Will it be the 1930s again?

I hear a lot of criticisms on this board about pastors, including some that base their opinions because of a few pastors.

It seems to me that the critics seem to be very judgmental about pastors. Yes, there are some very bad ones, and some very, very compassionate and good ones as well.

Could you admit that perhaps there are some very compassionate and caring pastors out there?

Have you ever walked a mile in what a pastor goes through in a week's time. They live in a glass house (just like any public figure does), they are on call 24/7/365. They are expected to be there for any and all crises that erupt. They also get calls on a regular basis from people who don't attend church and need help and have to determine who is really needing help and who is just trying to scam them, they also have to live a perfect life or face judgments, their sermons are criticized, and their entire family's behavior can affect their livelihood.

Could you be perfect in that pressure?

I've been talkin to a girl through e-mail that I met in college a few years back from USC, we just got in touch again.. well we've been talking through e-mail and on the phone a lot and she said she wanted to go eat dinner and see a movie this weekend. She said she's not out looking for a boyfriend but if it did happen she would have no problem with it. What does that mean when a woman says that?? I know it seems basic but who knows??

She also seems a tough one, a lot of people she dates or dated usually end up becoming just friends.

My dog ate rat poison and almost died last summer. YES i took her to the vet. She had a blood transfusion bc she was 15 mins away from dead the vet told me i needed to take her to a specialist but it was an hour away and i wouldnt have time to take her. So he gave her the blood transfusion and vitamin k. then i took her to the specialist and they said she was fine. I gave her the vitamin k pills for a month. Now she is coughing alot having trouble breathing and is not as playful as she used to be she just finished clavamox and her cough suppressant but she is still doing the same thing. Could this be related to the rat poison?

details...it's about the various state cigarette tax...weather you smoke or not, if you are honest with yourself, you have to see the unfairness of this...i live in iowa, and they are raising the cigarette taxes another dollar per pack...this affects only about 20% of the population who smoke....believe me, taxes from cigarettes will level off soon, with the numbers of youths not starting to smoke on the rise, and older smokers dying off, then what will they tax to make up for it?....maybe gasoline, say a dollar more per gallon...all citizens should be in an uproar on the taxes being imposed on smokers, it is your fellow americans being screwed weather you like smoking or not...all americans should stick together and fight any tax increase...please don't agree with the increase because you don't smoke..ban smoking from every place except the smokers own home if you like, but don't agree to tax away a legal product simply because our politicians are to boring and dumb to find income..

I don’t know how to put into words how I’m feeling at the moment. I’m 31 and my boyfriend is 24, we’ve been together 12 months and I’ve recently suffered a miscarriage. I’m devastated as even though the baby wasn’t planned after the initial shock it was very much wanted by both of us. I feel like this is my fault because it was my body that rejected the baby.
Daniel (my boyfriend) and me haven’t spoken about the miscarriage and I feel as if he is blaming me as well, he hasn’t cried and he’s acting like it hasn’t happened. I feel that we are growing apart; he won’t touch me not to even give me a cuddle or a kiss. I’m scared that I am going to lose him on top of losing our baby and I feel that my life as I know it is slipping away. His parents have been against us from the start and I feel that they are using the miscarriage to the advantage, he’s even moved back in with them. I’m really at a loss as to what to do. I love Daniel to bits and I don’t want to lose him.

The other day I was doing my usual research when suddenly I thought about a real unity ticket for 08: Wesley Clark/ Collin Powell (in any order). This would be fun because they were both in the military and are war Vets. I'm guessing that this ticket could do very well because they could get a big chunck of the Vet votes, African-American votes and lots of independent voters also. I never thought about it but it would be very interesting and would be a good ticket for Unity 08. What do you think?
