The three largest Jewish denominations believe Jews were chosen by God for a purpose, and many interpret this to mean Jews are superior spiritually in relation to God than other ethnic groups. However, Romans 2:11 says there is no respect of persons with God, and we're also told ALL men were created in the image of the Lord.
History reveals that Jews were the majority who pushed for the torment and killing of Jesus. Matthew 27:24-25 The whole crowd [the Jews] answered back: Let his blood be on our heads and the heads of our children."
And Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 the Jews killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and persecuted us. How displeasing they are to God! How hostile they are to all men. They even tried to stop us from preaching to the Gentiles...This is the last full measure of the sins they have always committed. And now God's wrath has at last fallen upon them.
Considering all the above, can someone explain their interpretation of scriptures regarding the Jews in relation to other ethnic groups? I would think each Jew would be judged individually as all humans, based on their hearts and faith in the Lord. Also, why would the fact that the Lord had a "purpose" for the Jews, imply they are spiritually superior? Men are also chosen for a purpose in the church in relation to women, but this does not mean they are superior to others, or will receive special recognition for eternal life and blessings. What do all of you think? Thanks
