nicholson (costello) was a protected FBI informer...they touch on it earlier in the film. I suggest watching it again, there are alot of twists and turns.

im not exaccttlyy sure. cuz i only saw the last 30-45 mins. of the movie but i think he was playing dumb..like what?! ur an undercover cop?!..hope it helps=/
