Topic: National Service

Resolved: The United States federal government should establish a policy substantially increasing the number of persons serving in one or more of the following national service programs: AmeriCorps, Citizen Corps, Senior Corps, Peace Corps, Learn and Serve America, Armed Forces.

so since im on pro, the basic argument is that im trying to back up why the US should establish a policy (eg. draft, but open to any other policy) increasing the # of ppl participating in national service. any reasons and solid evidence or backup is greatly appreciated...

I have a relative whose moods change from day to day. One day she is angry and the next she is compuslive. Sometimes she is happy but it is rare. She does not work, have friends, and lives at home. Do you think there is anything that can help her? She has tried medication and therapy to no avail. Thanks

Well i just got a job at chuckle cheeses, yea i know but it pays good, at least what i can get...i am 17

Anyway i found out that we will be trained in everything from being that damn mouse to doing the cash register. One problem is i am nervous about doing the cash register because i have dyscalcula and well it really does make me bad at math. I mean i hate it i would spend hours upon hours studying math skills when i was little, i just couldnt get them. Simple math problems like 13-8 would drive me crazy and really embarrass me in the class room, i just never can picture the numbers or do them in my head it is so frustrating. At times it even prevented me from getting other jobs but i just have to get this job...

help me out, are cash registers hard to work with???

i ask my grandma is i can feed my dog things like fruit cheerios and turky dogs (all advise from this site :)) but she ALWAYS answers "no do you want your dog to get diabetes and cholesterol problems?" even to fruit is this true please help i am begining to not even want a dog for fear that i would kill the dumb thing she also makes me feel stupid for asking i really need a good answer please help i really am going to need a dog because i sometime have trrouble making friends and i am moving so yeah i really am not compatible w/ most people cuz i get ticked off a lot and sometimes people cant handle things i say so i need to WANT this dog bye peoples

My partner and I were watching an episode of "In the Life"on the LOGO channel. The show focused on the "bear" lifestyle. Aside from Bears the narrator also mentioned "Cubs", "Otters" & "Wolves". My partner spoke over the discription of "Otters" & "Wolves" and I didn't hear the meaning. I know who Bears & Cubs are but who are the other two? Can anyone explain.

I'm 15/female. I'm a "late bloomer", I guess you could say. I just got my first boyfriend yesterday. I've always thought he was cute, but never actually thought about us going out. When I found out he liked me, I was so happy that I had finally found someone who liked me back. He asked me out yesterday and I couldn't have been happier. But the thing is, not many people like him. They call him annoying, gross, etc. I keep hearing all these things now, and its really making me upset. It's making me think "Is this what I want?". My so-called friends can't believe I'm going out with him. My goood friends are happy for me but the 'aquantances' are the ones that are saying stuff. I couldn't even really be happy in school, because I was so worried someone would saay something to me. I know I shouldnt care what they think, but it's not as easy as it sounds. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME. I thought my first boyfriend-experience would be something to look back on, not something I hate bringing up.
