From The End of Faith:

"Foresaking all valid sources of information about this world ... our religions have seized upon ancient taboos and prescientific fancies as though they held ultimate metaphysical significance. Books that embrace the narrowest spectrum of political, moral, scientific, and spiritual understanding -- books that, by their antiquity alone, offer us the most dilute wisdom with respect to the present -- are still dogmatically thrust upon us as the final word on matters of the greatest significance. In the best case, faith leaves otherwise well-intensioned people incapable of thinking rationally about many of their deepest concerns; at worst, it is a continuous source of human violence."

If you pray for someone to enter your life, that special someone, does it work?

If it does, how long do you have to pray? What is a general time frame that you will have it answered in?

Wish to hear from all those who do or don't think it works, and why.

Best answerer will receive 5 points.

I have a beautiful rotty, she is so clever and when we are out she is great, and walking home, she is great - but on the way out, she pulls and pulls. It is embarrasing and i get cross with her, which makes me feel guilty also. i have tried treats and the stop method, and she has a choker!! Nothing seams to work! I dread taking her out now!

I've been with my girlfriend almost 3 months (but knew her for some time before that), and the relationship started in a fairly dramatic way. She had been dating another guy at the time, and they had been going out for 2 years.
Now we are together and truly love each other, but she tells me her ex keeps sending her emails and bothering her, and really wants to meet. She has asked me if she should meet with him to convince him to leave her alone, and she says she wants to convince her ex that she really loves me.
What do you think I should tell her?

I have always had the thickest longest hair my whole life. But recently I have noticed it falling out a lot more than just normal shedding. It is just getting thinner and thinner. I'm only 22 and I don't think I should be losing hair like this. My hair is not unhealthy. It's actually very shiny and smooth. It is not dried out at all. The only problem is that it keeps falling out. I wash it every 2-3 days and don't use a lot of heat when I style it. I'm not sure what else I can do to strengthen it.
Are there any suggestions?....
Home remedies maybe that I can try?

Also, is there something I can change in my diet?

I was just wondering if it makes any sence to anyone why it's $1,000.00 fine for littering and only a $250.00 fine for running a red light.I live in Bay Area,California and here red light runners are an epidemic. When the light turns green we have to wait for at least 3 or 4 cars to clear the intersection before we can go.Also when I stop as the light turns yellow I run the risk of being rear ended by someone who wants to run the light.By the way this has already happened to me and the guy said it was my fault because eventhough the light was red he said there weren't any cars comming.Shouldn't the penalty for running a red light at least cost as much as littering? How can we change the law to make it cost more for red light offenders? It is really, really bad here and something has to be done about it.Any suggestions?

i feel like i'm about to get a common cold - the reason i say this is because i always feel this way just before it happens, i.e. a mild throat-ache etc...

anyway, i want to prevent it because i've got an exam coming up in 2 days and i don't want to go into it feeling sick. it has happened before and was rather unpleasant.

so does anyone have any tips as to how i can try and stop this from getting any worse?

thanks for your time

a) In ordinal scalling, each response is place into a catergory and arranged in a numerical order where one catergory is seen to have more of some property than another catergory.

b) With a ratio scale, there is interval scaling but no meaningful zero value.

As it says, what are good methods for gaining members for a guild, without the whole "join this guild" flaming?

Unfortunatly, a homophobic officer of mine went rogue, and deleted a dozen members, so I need to rebuild Scotty Chan, (a casual/social guild, which I fund with all of my spare cash).

Incidently, if anyone wishes to join the SC, I'd be much grateful, (add Scott Bull, and contact me when I'm online),

Note: this is also a question about recruitment methods, as well as an open invitation to anyone who wishes to join the SC, (loyal members will be considered for "Officer" status).

I often ask friends to tell their friends about the SC, but I'm looking for other optins, (unfortunatly, it's hard to take a guild seriously, when the guild takes nothing serious, even though I am totally dedicated to it, and it's members).

Additional: BEST ANSWER will be based on a method which is very user friendly, and takes consideration of other members of the game.

Thank-you.
